Trump attacks the Federalist Society!

For those that don’t know what the Federalist Society is, it is an ultra-conservative organization that seeks the appointment of ultra-conservative judicial appointees. Among its current and former members are Alito, Thomas and Scalia. Many of the judges ruling against Trump’s unconstitutional actions are Trump appointees vetted by the Federalist Society, most recently a judge on the US Court of International Trade.

Trump and MAGAs do not like Judges who apply the law and follow the Constitution if the rulings go against Trump.

That is not what judges are supposed to do in MAGA world!

In MAGA world you do what Trump says without regard to the law or the Constitution.

Of course, calling Leonard Leo a “sleaze bag” will not endear Trump to some Supreme Justices who have a very high opinion of Mr. Leo and the work he has done in reshaping the courts.

For the record, I am no fan of Mr. Leo or his work regarding the courts, but it is amusing to watch Trump attack one of the most conservative judicial organizations in the US.

I don’t think that’s what Leo had in mind when he began to build his judicial empire, but that’s what happened.

I had my concerns with many of these Trump judicial appointees that were being recommended by the Federalist Society. I will say though that many of these individuals did have stellar academic credentials. Many of these appointees were not idiots. We are now seeing that some of these judicial appointees are not the automatons that MAGA and Trump were hoping for.
