Washington, D.C. -- In a surprise move yesterday morning, President Donald Trump announced that he's abandoning his tariff policy, ending all tariffs, and adopting free trade. "I've decided that free trade is the way to go," said Trump, "and so I've cancelled all tariffs."

Ten minutes later, CNN, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, NBC, the Washington Post, the New York Times, Vox, and Axios carried headlines warning of the dangers of free trade and claiming that free trade will destroy the economy.

Democrat Party leaders Chuck Schumer, Hakeem Jeffries, Liz Warren, Nancy Pelosi, and Bernie Sanders made the rounds on news networks to denounce Trump's adoption of free trade. "This is a huge threat to working families," said Sanders. "Americans will see prices rise on essential goods and services because of this shift to free trade," said Schumer. Warren added, "My tribe will be hit heap big hard by Trump's free trade shift."

How would it be free trade if the other countries are all still levying their tariffs against us? The very reason why Trump is tariffing them back in the first place in order to balance out the transaction.

Kidding on the square? That is actually exactly what the Left would do. Democrats are like shadows, they are always opposite of where the Sun shines.

I remember a time when Conservatives were strong defenders of free trade

Correct. The policy failed to deliver the promised results. So, we changed. What part of that did you miss?

The "My Team" mentality has always plagued mankind clear back to the very beginning of humanity. The 'root' of the problem with the my team mentality issue appears to be the power & control(PC) paradox. Don't look for the "my team syndrome" to go away any time soon for that my team syndrome appears to be 'embedded' in the human psych even more firmly than physical survival!

The status quo it them benefiting at our expense. That is not condusive to teaming up.
Actually it is BOTH trade partners benefitting at the expense of everyone else

The Blind Leading Those They Blinded

It is "My Good Shepherd." Only unearned snobbish conceit makes pundits blame the powerless. This goes back to "bread and circuses" blaming the doomed Roman plebeians for apathy, instead of the political and socio-economic system that excluded them. When they got nothing else, they took what they could get.

Our obsolete social structure puts inferior people in superior positions. Change that, instead of preaching that we get what we deserve.

As in Big Oil's Creation of and Collusion with OPEC Price-Gouging

The 1973 Embargo is where our military could have paid for itself many times over We could have easily seized permanent ownership of the jihadis' oilfields. Our own oil companies pressured Nixon out of doing that, even though an embargo is an act of war. As a result of their treason, the oil companies, through oilfield service, enhanced their wealth just as much as the Arabs did.

We still are. We're also about Fair Trade where other nations buy our goods as much as we buy theirs on an even playing field.

In a surprise move, Trump's team gives $10,000.00 to every, natural born American. Democrats and the Media declare that the move as Xenophobic.
