Since its inception Republicans have fought to do away with Social Security, the bedrock retirement program for the middle class and low income Americans. And, Trump's goal to tax the middle class and lower income citizens, certainly does no favors for Social Security. In fact his economic ideas, loved by Republicans who "like his policies," will bankrupt the program sooner rather than later.

The obvious solution, and the only fair one to keep the program solvent, is to increase payroll taxes by eliminating the present cap on payroll taxes on earnings. And, why shouldn't the wealthy pay their fair share as the rest of us have had to do? So what if they have to buy a cheaper yacht, or fewer Rolex watches or fewer country club memberships. They should support the American economy the same as the hard working middle and lower classes.

Bigly!!!

Tax anything over $100,000,000.00 at 50-70%. One hundred million dollars a year is plenty for anyone to live on forever.

First things first. You're an idiot.

When Trump got the State Tax ceiling raised in New Yawk (called SALT), the wealthy dimocraap scum in that shithole raised Holy ******* Hell x10 about it. All those leftist scumbags in New Yawk do is talk out their asses.

Second, if OMB hates Socialist Security so much, why is he proposing we not be taxed on it?

I don't know why I waste my time with 'bots. The site should do something about them.

trump is proposing not taxing SS... :dunno:

This is just a pack of lies. The President can do NOTHING with Social Security. He can't increase it, decrease, it or have any impact whatsoever on whether and when the "trust fund" is depleted. It is ENTIRELY up to Congress, and Congress WILL act to avoid the depletion- which would not be a catastrophe, in any event. If the fund goes "bankrupt," SS will revert to a pay-as-you-go proposition, and benefits would drop by about 20%.

Given that Retired Bastards like me are the wealthiest demographic in the land, it would be a problem for a couple percent of the population. Of course the Media would quickly seek the out and feature stories about how granny will have to move to a homeless encampment because Congress let the fund run dry, but who cares?

Au contraire, President Trump intends to eliminate taxes on Social Security benefits, making the program MORE of a benefit to us old farts.

The other obvious solution is keeping Trump out of the WH.

I wish he'd get rid of social security. God damn ponzi scheme cooked up by boomers to siphon wealth from younger folks like me. Pretty rich considering how often they call younger people, "lazy and entitled." Luckily, like all ponzi schemes, its collapse is a matter of when, not if.

Democrats have been lying about social security since Jimmy Carter.

They claim Republicans are evil bastards who want to take your benefits, yet they turn around and steal from the social security fund every year.
Bush tried to privatize SS to keep congress from dipping into the FICA fund, and they refused to allow it.

Democrats are borrowing (stealing) from FEMA and social security to pay for their human-trafficking/illegal voter operation. Even blacks and Hispanics are fed up with new illegals getting billions of dollars in free room and board, and illegals being flown and bused all over blue cities, living in expensive hotels, and closing down community centers to house these ungrateful invaders.

No problem. I've paid into it since I was 16. Now I'm 68.

You can always stop working, or become self-employed.

That way you never have to pay into it.

Trumps goal is to tax the middle class and low income earners? Don’t we tax them now? Not quite sure what your point is

SS is already heading for bankruptcy without reform

You can't stop working. And self-employment isn't viable for most people. The fact is that it takes money from person A, and gives it to person B. Simple as.

It's really like any insurance policy.

Did you know that most of our debt is money they stole from social security and the interest they pay on that debt?

Do you honestly believe the garbage in this post? It really should embarrass you.

Trump is clearly on the record that he does not intend to reduce Social Security nor raise the age limit for those receiving it. And he intends to push for changes in the tax code that will end taxes on Social Security for those who pay them.

How is that a 'war on Social Security'?

Social Security was created because dumbass people couldnt save enough to retire on, so big government was there to save the day. Then in the 1990s Bill Clinton in 1992 saw an opportunity to save Social Security by taxes Social Security more of seniors dumb enough not to have saved more of their own money, so people started to be asked "do you want to eat this week or get your prescription drugs". Even Tom Daschle Democrat leader said his poor mother "had to eat cat food some days" because her prescription drug costs well exceed her SS income. Tom, buddy, you are speaker of the house, yet let your mom eat cat food? So now, President Trump offers to have Social Security income "TAX FREE", so retirees get to keep more of that income, so they can live better in the 29% inflation that Biden/Harris allowed during their admin.

What do the scales say?

Vote for Harris for more inflation.....Or Vote for President Trump who will let you keep more of your money, while bringing down prices.

It wasnt cooked up by boomers but the prewar depression era asshole who was polio riddled, so the lazy ***** who didnt work hard and invest, relied on Socialist redistribution of wealth so when a couple had six children there was more than enough future workers to cover the costs. But that damn Globull Warming lie, you know where in 12 years that AOC predicted, that the Earth was going to end, so a couple today, is waiting to see if that happens by not having any children, so no future workers and now the Democrats have ruined their own Socialist plan of Social Security. Any thing a Democrat touches is soon Detroitification.

MSNBC is about as fake news as possible. I remember 50 years ago Democrats claiming that Republicans will take social security away and they have said it every year since. We've still got it.
