After scamming the willing Obama and Biden administrations out of billions of taxpayer dollars, the jig is finally up, and the Trump administration is pulling the plug on this con job.

This should have happened years ago.

The detailed report, which is over 300 pages, contains 9 key findings including missed deadlines, budget shortfalls, and overrepresentation of projected ridership. The two grants total roughly $4 billion in taxpayer money. As the letter notes, CHSRA has up to 37 days to respond, after which the grants could be terminated.

In a letter to CHSRA’s CEO, Ian Choudri, the FRA noted its report identified a trail of project delays, mismanagement, waste, and skyrocketing costs. The project has received approximately $6.9 billion in federal dollars in roughly fifteen years but has not laid a single high-speed track. Even with continued federal support, the project is far short of the funding needed to finish just a fraction of the track.

Another analysis of the situation

Stop the Train: How Much Did California Get for *Not* Laying Any Tracks?

I find this part particularly telling:

Despite the funding challenges, progress has been made on the project. In California’s Central Valley, 119 miles are under construction. The project recently celebrated its 10,000th construction worker on the job. The infrastructure design work is complete, and 422 out of 500 miles have been environmentally cleared, which is a monumental task in California.

Even a project THEY WANT takes for freaking ever to clear environmental reviews.

Now, a complete audit to find out who stole all that money. And PROSECUTE them!

I could have written that report before they ever started this boondoggle.

Sheer incompetence and likely corruption at its core. Conversely, the new Brightline from Vegas to Rancho Cucamonga, a private project, is right on schedule.

The train to nowhere was ALWAYS about scamming money into Dem's pockets. After 10 years and billions of dollars Dems managed to lay...wait for it...ZERO miles of high speed train track. :icon_rolleyes:

Heard that Trump intends to claw back the last 4 Billion allotted to the railroad to no where in California.
