It is strange that few people touch this issue, especially for the USA.
The current regime uses strict political and cultural censorship. Long before the conflict, IP addresses from the Russian Federation were blocked on most resources there, the objectionable were gagged, there was no real opposition.
But most importantly, Ukraine, despite the fact that it is a heterogeneous and multinational state, stifles all attempts at the sovereignty of the regions. She declares herself "unit" and robs the regions and shuts the mouths.
This is the opposite regime to that in the US, opposite the policy of state independence.
This is not surprising, this regime was led by the left, the coup was under Obama.
Oddly enough for "liberals", the opposition, represented by the Party of Regions of Yanukovych, sought the decentralization of Ukraine. It was the party of Freedom, at least by programm of party.
Those who screamed the most about freedom are strangling freedom there. And this did not appear right now, they promoted this policy from the very beginning.
In fact, there is political schizophrenia in the media now.
And I will not say that everything is in order with this in the Russian Federation, but for now the Russian Federation remains a Federation
This regime is totalitarian even according to formal strict criteria.
