With 4 more today against the Bears, Brady sits alone in this exclusive club, at 602- with only Drew Brees with 571 anywhere near him. To put a little perspective on it, Dan Marino had 420, Johnny Unitas had 290 and Joe Montana had 273.

Back when Dan Marino and Johnny U were playing, the rules of contact with the quarterback was much different. Today, with the coddling of the QB, they can do all sorts of things knowing they arent going to get their blocks knocked off.

Also back in the day, football was about about run and pass, when you had people like John Riggens, or Larry Csonka in the game, he would get more touches than the receivers. But then along came the west coast offense, where instead of the fullback, it would some 1/4 horse halfback who easily would break a leg, so they started throwing more.

My favorite team of all time was the 1988 -1989 49ers
when they won their first two Super Bowls.....Montana, Craig and Rathman (RB) Brent Jones and Wesley Walls (TE) and Jerry Rice, Ronnie Lott ....

And DBs could play receivers much tighter back then as well.

Virtually all the rule changes the past 25-years or so have been aimed at helping the offense.

They won two before that, 1981, 1984.

Brady has been absolutely monumental in being so productive at later points in his career.

However, he's not the most prolific QB in history, and has only been "the man" when it comes to QB's a few times in his career.

For example:
Manning threw 539 TD's in 266 games
Brady has thrown 602 TD's in 308 games

Manning 2.026
Brees 1.997
Brady 1.967

Brady is all-time great in being a QB that can score, but not the greatest.
