Well, well, well...just in time for the MIDTERM ELECTIONS...Come on Republicans use Piglosi calling those big tax breaks crumbs, the INDEPENDENTS will take notice especially if they go through on Nov.1...:11_2_1043:

Republicans advanced a second round of tax cuts to the House floor Thursday, setting up a major messaging vote for the chamber before the midterm elections.

The House Ways and Means Committee voted along party lines to advance legislation, dubbed “Tax Reform 2.0” by Republicans, that would make permanent the tax cuts for individuals included in the tax overhaul signed by President Trump in December.

“Tax Reform 2.0 is our commitment to American workers that our code will remain the most competitive in the world,” said Rep. Kevin Brady, R-Texas, the committee’s chairman. “Never again will America fall so far behind.”

The centerpiece of the legislation would get rid of the individuals' tax cuts 2025 end date that Republicans wrote into the law for procedural reasons. The bill advanced Thursday would permanently extend the lower individual income tax rates, the child tax credit, the larger standard deduction, and the new tax break for businesses that file through the individual side of the tax code. The cuts would represent around $250 billion annually for the years after 2025.

That is enough of a reason to vote against it. The standard deduction should be replaced by the old standard deduction and personal exemption. The standard deduction discriminates against people who have large families. Even worse is the fact that the standard deduction IS NOT indexed to inflation. The pass through rate is a boom for the rich because most small business would be better off still filing to the individual side. Also the carried interest deduction should be repealed as well as the tax break for real estate trusts.

They should vote no. The fact is that the tax bill was a bad bill. We need more moderate Democrats and then pass a bill. Donald Trump is on track to be the worst President ever.

The republicans are only doing this to have an election talking point.

They know it's never going to pass the senate since they can't use reconciliation to by pass the filibuster.

So all this is, is a stunt for the republicans to be able to say that democrats are blocking more tax cuts.

Tax cuts that aren't needed and will harm our nation even more.

A more moderate bill = raise taxes. We get it.

What you do in tax reform is close loopholes in return for lower rates. That is what Reagan did in the 80's. It is possible some people could pay higher taxes because of the closing of loopholes.

What if it is possible to cut taxes on 99% of all earners.
Leave taxes rates where they are on the richest 1%
And still increase federal revenue?

The moral—and economic—case for progressive taxation

" Most people judge whether taxes are fair based on what they themselves pay—which is why, in surveys, the marginal rate on the top 1% is basically unrelated to whether people think taxes are too high, even though that one bracket is the critical decision in deciding any tax system—you can raise about 20% of your revenue by hurting about 1% of your people.

"In a typical sample of 1,000 respondents, only about 10 are in the top 1%.

"If you want to run for Congress, the implication is clear: Cut taxes on all but the top 1%, raise them enormously on the top 0.1%, 0.01%, and 0.001%, and leave the 1% the same.

"People will feel that you’ve made the taxes more fair, and you’ve also raised more revenue. In other words, make the tax system more progressive."

Why didn’t they do it in the first place?
Because it was not revenue neutral

Tax cuts aren't really tax cuts. That explains why Dems want to raise taxes.
