Title 42 Was Never Going To Fix Illegal Immigration

Only an actual border can stop illegal immigration — preferably a border with a really high wall.
12 May 2023 ~~ By JOHN DANIEL DAVIDSON

Whatever your view of immigration, there can be no doubt that the Biden administration’s border policies have been an abject failure. This is especially true of Title 42, the pandemic-era public health order that for the last three years, under both the Trump and Biden administrations, allowed border officials to expel illegal immigrants quickly back to Mexico.

Title 42 came to an end on Thursday when the Covid public health emergency officially ended, and its ending has coincided with what can only be described as absolute chaos along the U.S.-Mexico border this past week.
Border Patrol agents are now arresting more than 10,000 illegal immigrants every day. If you have no context for that figure, consider that in March 2019, at the onset of the last border crisis, Border Patrol was arresting 4,000 illegal immigrants a day. At the time, President Obama’s Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson said, “I know that 1,000 [apprehensions] overwhelms the system and I cannot begin to imagine what 4,000 a day looks like.”
What 10,000 a day looks like is a humanitarian catastrophe. Put bluntly, Border Patrol has nowhere to put these people. If it keeps up for much longer, we’ll see a string of what amount to massive migrant camps appear across south Texas — think of the encampment of 15,000 Haitians under a bridge in Del Rio, Texas, in September 2021, multiplied many times over all up and down the border.
What 10,000 a day means is that our southwest border is collapsing. The Texas cities of Laredo, El Paso, and Brownsville have issued emergency declarations, as has New York City Mayor Eric Adams. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who still refuses...

Now that Title 42 is finally ending, we see the federal government’s immigration bureaucracy grinding into action once again to manage a situation our defective laws cannot handle. Whatever the outcome of Biden’s plan, it amounts to government by administrative fiat, demonstrating the ongoing corruption of the rule of law in America and the triumph of the administrative state.
In the end, the only thing that will end the ongoing border crisis is to fix our asylum and immigration laws so they can’t be exploited by illegal immigrants making bogus asylum claims. Programs like Title 42, or even the Trump administration’s Remain in Mexico policy, are stop-gaps at best. To secure the border, we’re going to need laws that mandate a secure border, which means closing the asylum loopholes, immediately deporting those who cross illegally, and building a really high wall.

Commentary:
The Today Show just reported 60,000 in the last three days. There was no discussion of whether this was a temporary bump due to the lifting of Title 42 or the new normal. That's 20,000 a day or 7.3 million a year. My guess is that it will continue to ramp up. Why not get the full effects of Cloward Piven theory?
We have laws, the laws are fine. All we need is those in charge is to follow and enforce them. Creating new laws won’t do a damn thing if they won’t follow the laws already on the books.
It doesn’t make any difference. The people living in this country have become to passive to stop the invasion of their country. Citizens living here deserve what is happening to their country and their children and grandchildren are going to hate them for it.
Mayorkas has told us he has “Operational Control” of the boarder. Believe him. This is his program. Executed to a tee.
Every history book from now until our nation is no longer known will truthfully paint Joe Biden and his Administration as the President who sold out the country and surrendered America’s border.

Yawn, I just can't get worked up about this as you are. Of course, my father was an immigrant and I am currently engaged to an immigrant, so I don't get worked up about immigrants like you do.

I agree the immigration system IS broken, in that there are plenty of opportunities in this country and we make it hard for people to access them. But a Wall isn't going to fix that. As General Patton said, "Fixed fortifications are a monument to human stupidity. If Oceans and Mountains can be overcome, then anything built by man can be overcome."

Neither is fast expulsion... they'll just try again and again and again.

If you want a real solution to the illegal immigrant "problem", then simple enough to do. Go after the rich white people who hire them.
The big agricultural combines,
the owners of the sweat shop.
The rich investment banker couple who think of Lupe as being just like a member of the family, which is why they don't file her taxes.
The jackass who takes his pickup to the Home Depot and hires six day laborers because that DIY project wasn't as easy as Chip and Joanna made it look.

We won't do that. Why? Because at the end of the day, we like these jobs getting done and we don't want to do them ourselves.

Nothing to do with liberals. Tramp would have the same problem.
Its all about liberals who see white replacement with very poor brown migrants as a dagger in the heart of conservatives

We should have zero inflow via migrants and asylum seekers

I think you have that in reverse.
It was the GOP that made race an issue when Nixon appealed to all the inbred southern racists that the Democrats threw out in 1964.

the problem with appealing to racism is that it has diminishing returns, in both that the white population is shrinking and younger white people just aren't invested in racism like their parents were.

Nixon is a different topic and it shows your desperation to change the subject

Immigration can be fixed:

1) A huge, impenetrable wall.
2) Armed guards ready to shoot on site/sight.
3) Criminal charges brought on all corporation leaders that routinely hire and support illegal aliens.
4) Criminal charge brought on all politicians who aid and abet these criminals.
5) Punitive sanctions on the leaders of countries whose citizens are encouraged to invade America.
6) Automatic death penalty to all drug and human traffickers.

The invasion would be reduced to a trickle in a few, short months.

Nope. Nixon shows where your party went wrong. His politics were continued with Reagan's Welfare Queens and Young Bucks, Bush's Willy Horton Ads, Jesse Helm's White Hands ad, etc. You get the white working class to vote against their own economic interests by playing on their racial fears.

Except now it's backfiring on you, as non-whites make up 35% of the electorate and about half of white voters aren't buying your shit.

Ah, Dry Drunk, there's no such thing as an impenetrable wall. Just ask the Chinese.

2) Armed guards ready to shoot on site/sight.

And the first time they shoot a child, that will be a very unpopular policy.

3) Criminal charges brought on all corporation leaders that routinely hire and support illegal aliens.
Silly little man, you think the law applies to rich people?
Hey, you know your boy Trump hired illegals to work on his projects, and then stiffed them. Let's start with him.

4) Criminal charge brought on all politicians who aid and abet these criminals.

Uh, I don't think you want to start criminalizing political disagreements. That won't go well for your side.

5) Punitive sanctions on the leaders of countries whose citizens are encouraged to invade America.

As your boy Putin how much sanctions are ruining his day. Not really.

6) Automatic death penalty to all drug and human traffickers.

Again, we can't execute murderers in this country without years of litigation. Get back to me when you have real solutions.

The invasion would be reduced to a trickle in a few, short months.
Not really... As long as you have jobs on one side of the imaginary line and people who want to do those jobs on the other, people will cross that imaginary line.

Let's see. #1 and #2 are unrealistic. Walls don't keep people out. Only the most depraved of our species would sign up for #2. #3 is a large portion of where the problem with immigration lies. But #4 (lotsa Republicans on that side) doesn't have the stomach to leverage those kinds of punitive damages against the corporations who fund their campaigns. #5?? What about the country whose clandestine agencies have a hand in disrupting and creating havoc in these countries? You gonna punish them too? Because it's likely to be an exercise in self-flagellation :) And #6..well, you and every other country would have to suspend their right to trial. I mean, there are a lot of countries where you could get away with #6..but in all likelyhood, the ruling members of that country...are PARTICIPATING in said activities.

Both parties are to blame for the mess we see right now. Both parties need to sit down and fix the mess.
But I'm not holding my breath.

Walls do deter people from entry. Make it tall enough and thick enough, it will certainly slow down foot traffic a lot better than no wall at all. Many nations have walls or fences along their borders.

I would sign up for #2. Not because I'm depraved, but because I'm patriotic and believe in our Constitutional rule of law. I wouldn't have to fire on a soul if they were aware that they could be fired upon. But rubber bullets or bean bags could be a very effective deterrent as well.

And as has been pointed out, the first time your rubber bullet or bean bag hit a child or an infant and killed them, the entire "shoot on site" project would be killed...and you would most likely end up like that Marine on the NYC subway. Facing a whole shit ton of legal consequences.

Don't shoot kids. Problem solved.

Its as simple as that

Here is the explanation here

If true then that half of white voters care nothing about the future of America
