That's why I wonder whether the big deal being made over ending Title 42 is just a red herring.
What does the end of Title 42 matter if Biden is already not enforcing the border? All this angsting about ending 42 will give Biden two ways to respond.
-If I'm right, and the border is already open wide, then ending Title 42 won't make it any more open. If that is the case, then there won't be a surge of new illegals because they are already surging. So Team Biden can claim to have masterfully handled the situation.
-If I'm wrong, and there is a surge, Team Biden can claim that their hands were tied by the Judge's order. That would be pure baloney because Team Biden tried to end Title 42 a months ago and were stopped by another judge. They always wanted to lift whatever restriction Title 42 has put on their desire to flood the country with illegals.
Anyway, the Biden Admin could reduce the flow on the border with or without Title 42, as Trump did. Absent Title 42, there are still restrictions on immigration that the Biden administration could enforce instead of relying on 42.
In fact, that is their actual job, to enforce immigration policy. Don't fall for them pretending that they are enforcing it, or pretending that forces beyond their control prevent them from enforcing it. They will probably claim both, always wanting things all ways at once.
