1. I assume you are referring to the American Civil War of the 1860’s. I don’t think this qualifies as “modern time”.

2. I think you are correct that only the United States and the State of Israel are the only two governments that support the current policies of Israel while the people are very divided on their support.


3. France invaded the Congo with Peace Keeping Forces trying to stop the Genocide it was not a “unilateral preemptive military attack” to take over and occupy the nation.

The Bosnia/Kosovo campaign. Most Republicans were not very happy about being involved, because there was no clear objective, and the whole thing was about nation building.

If you're trying to draw a parallel to the Iraq War, you're wrong. First, Iraq is, and always has been, one theater in the greater War on Terrorism. Second, America didn't go in unilaterally. The UK was with us from day one, and several other countries have supported us with troops in Iraq since the fall of Saddam.

But, in reply to your question, any attack on a terrorist harboring nation by an ally in the War on Terror would be fine, i.e. if Russia wanted to blitzkrieg across Iran right now.

David, Israel's policies keep it protected from the backwoods savages that live all around it. Israel is a beacon of light and civilization in the Middle East and must be supported. The reason other countries don't support Israel is because of two things. First, whether it is said or unsaid, there is a lot of anti-semitism in the world--esp. in Europe. And second, most countries have big-money deals going on in Middle Eastern countries and don't want to support Israel because doing so would ruin trade deals they have with the Arabs--see: France/Iraq at the start of the Iraq War.

Israel deserves our alliance simply because they represent order in a land full of savages. If they fell, there'd be no saving that whole region.

Israel is and was a beacon to take the focus of the anger on the Arab street off of the wealthy oil deals. This is why the United States and Great Britain have leading roles in the Middle East problems.

Yes, the people of the Middle East have to solve their own problems, but the outside world has to change their ways with the nations of the Middle East. The wealthy Middle Eastern oil nations have to take a leading role in the region. In the past as a part of unwritten policies the western industrial nations wanted to keep the Middle East divided keeping them from becoming to powerful, again because of oil. To solve the problems in the Middle East you are going to have to solve both of the major problems simultaneously.

What was the land like prior to 1948? What were the exports?

The sweet water of Palestine was clean unlike today in Israel with so much of the sweet water polluted with chemicals and polution. In Palestine the Jewish, Muslim and Christians coexisted in peace together up until the Zionist movement made their presents. There were no wall or fences dividing the people except in the Old City of Jerusalem. The Holy Lands greatest export was religion unlike today where it is military related hardware.

I consider myself a “conservative radical” meaning we need major revolutionary changes in America and the world towards balance and peace. I believe the greed of a few has overtaken common sense within our system. My greatest fear is leaving this world in worst shape for my children than it was when I came into it. For some reason I don't believe you're being completely truthful here. What you've just said doesn't jive with your questions above about America and it's wars. Because if you knew anything about the wars we've been in, you'd also know that because of those wars, you have the "right" to "free speech". Is that something you feel we fought a war for that we shouldn't have?

America has tried "staying out of war" before. But when we try that trick, it leads to the greatest loss of life we've ever seen. Remember Pearl Harbor? Remember the World Trade Centers? We were caught with our pants down and sucker punched. Now I don't know what a "conservative radical" does in those situations, but this "conservative" say's we need to go kick some serious ass. War, it's unavoidable in many, many circumstances.
