Tormented slaves? His kind? He bought his slaves to save them from death. One even asked for him to buy him because stonewall would let him earn freedom. He taught blacks hwo to read and write, putting his own freedom in jeopardy. He sent them money when he was away at war.
They even put up a memorial of him in one of their churches.
He was one of the good ones in the south, as far as that went.

Oh, wow. Typical woke extremism and hatefulness. Jackson was one of the most honorable generals on either side. Many people don't know that before the war Jackson ignored the law against teaching slaves to read, and that during the war he sent regular contributions to his church earmarked for the church's black Sunday school.
