We've got to learn from some of our lessons.

One would hope so but unfortunately, our Congress is allowing a man who is obviously unhappy in his personal life, take out his frustrations on the whole rest of the world. I've seen this occur far too many times to not recognize it.

It was OK to incinerate two cities full of people with nuclear weapons because they wanted to negotiate better surrender terms? Truman felt bound by dying FDR's demand of some old concept going back to Grant of unconditional surrender. The least he could have done was listen to these people before he nuked them but he wouldn't and he didn't. He knew that he could count on support by the media and he was never criticized by the "historians" who were part of the media.

They did what was necessary and no such indications exist

They were bombed to end the war which the Japanese were unwilling to do before the bombings
