It's what you want. And it's bad for the country. It's what the two-party drones strive for - division and acrimony. Fear and anger.
If you really want your policy preferences to advance, you don't want to piss off the other side. You don't want to leave them spoiling for revenge and dedicated to undermining your agenda at every opportunity. What you want is them thinking - if only to themselves - "hmm maybe this will work, maybe it has some benefits".
Sorry, but the hard core of the other side has too much power, and sucks too much.
Unlike you I don't pretend my Phasers work in a Star Wars universe.
