This Mother Cat Needed Some Help

Man feeds a stray cat and found love and trust instead.
Cats have a sixth sense about who they can trust.

A long haired tabby took up with us in October, from somewhere in the neighborhood. Quickly, after being certain of being fed as an outdoor cat, she brought us her 4 still nursing kittens. PJ went into action. The den is now the kitten room, with a new 3 story cat cage with hammock. Rusty (the mother kitty, and a great one for a cat so young) is now up on all her shots, now been spade, so a permanent indoor/outdoor cat. The kittens, Tux, (Jet black tuxedo with white shirt front female), Socks (long haired female tabby with white socks like mother) Tab (short hair grey and black tabby male with perfect markings) and Nightly (solid black long haired female) have all had their exams and shots. It has been a heck of a month for Vet Bills. Nightly will probably be a permanent indoor kitty. Lexie, our German Shepherd, has no problem, pretty well ignoring them. Jasper, our full grown short haired tabby, and Esme, our Siamese, hate all these interlopers. I don't know which others might be kept. It kind of depends on how attached PJ gets, but this many cats and kittens is driving her nuts, especially with the damage to her indoor plants.

Idaho snatched that momma cat off the streets too. I'll own nothing but a calico cat. And that ones paint job is cool as hell.

Damn...that single mom sensed that you were a meal ticket. Now your ass has to feed six of another man's kids! They're real cute, though. Hope you find good homes for them all.

Interesting. Do you apply a digital artistic filter to your photos? I've taken in two stray cats over the years, they both made wonderful pets. The first, a male, we left free to run loose and he would go out catting for days sewing his oats and come home exhausted and starved, we found him as a kitten living in our window well. Took time to tame him. We had another, older male, he was king of the house, and it was often funny how he would put up with the younger's antics but he was patient and trained him and finally put him in his place once he was older. The other was a female, slightly older, living under our covered patio furniture in the winter. She was a real gem. These animals appreciate how fortunate they are to have been saved and given a good home and they never let you forget it.

If I am taking the shot, on my Iphone, I often adjust and enhance. Those were taken last night by PJ, while I was on the board, so came straight out of my email.

Yep. Rusty is definitely grateful for her new situation. The kittens are still getting used to people, us included. They know their food, water and litter box will be in the crate, so now they get to get out into the main house to explore part of the time, but run back to the den and the safety of the crate if frightened by something or someone.

Yes, they look like a digital interpolation filter was used, which takes pictures and redoes the details to make it look like a painting or drawing, depending on how heavily the filter is applied.

Both of us have Iphones. Mine is the newer Pro and does not have that as an option, as far as I know. Would be cool if it did. I am certain she does not have that filter.

Such filters have been around since the 1990s, and are rather common even in freeware for post-processing images.

Here is a similar tool applied various ways for different effects to a photo taken back in 1999 of a friend.

I've done a lot of image processing so I can spot the effects even when applied far more subtly. I would bet dollars to donuts you have artistic tools on your phones and they were used in your kitten pictures.

Could be. She said used edit functions for lighting and contrast, before sending them to computer.

Trust me, it is in there. Nowadays, these companies are so far into digital effects, some of them may be default. They even offer now to allow you to "clean up" photos by taking out people in the picture you do not want.

My father was a photographer for the Navy in WWII, and I grew up as a kid using a Speed Graphic camera with a darkroom in the basement. My mainstay for many years was processing astrophotographs, so everyday photos are easy stuff.

Here's a few samples of pictures I've taken and processed:
