China dominates shipbuilding in 2025 the way America did in 1942

And we know how that turned out for the US Navy against Japan

Now it could happen to us unless we wake up and implement new policies

actually, the United StTesdid not dominate ship building in 1942.

Indeed, the US has had a small merchant marine for over 200 years.

Henry J Kaiser brought assembly line and modu;ar construction practices that made up for the deficit.

But the US has not been a shipbuilding powerhouse for a very long time.

We had the expertise and industrial capacity to swamp the Japanese navy with American ships

And we did

Everyone from Ford to GM and Alcoa helped in the war effort. By the time Japan attacked America they were already humming with production as they were assisting the British.

Furthermore, the workers there were treated like gold, well paid, great benefits. Everyone was eager to work to help.

The West MUST reverse this race to the bottom, this helping of communists who implement slave labour. I dont care if profits go down, there is a far greater issue at hand, including our liberty and very existence.

I will be rooting for America to succeed and hope Canada follows suit.

It feels like we are the Nazi's who are trying to take over the rest of the world only this time it's economic war. Hitler bit off more than he could chew. In WW2 we were allies with Russia. We are allies once again. Japan, are we losing them?

Italy went along with Hitler until Hitler stabbed them in the back. Italy is spineless.

Spain, Italy ministers urge Europe to avoid clash with US over Trump’s tariffs

Are we the Axis of Evil now? Europe and Canada and Mexico are not the Axis of Evil are they? Australia? Seems like America is the Axis of Evil.

So to you trump placing tariffs on imported products is the same as Hitler invading Holland?

Wow!

China's navy is woefully inadequate when compared to the US Navy....More does not mean better, or even on-par ship to ship.

They have three carriers, two of which are old Soviet tech. All they can fly from them are light fighters.

The US Navy has 20 carriers that can fly fighters, fighter bombers, orbiting recon, and even limited troop transports off of them.

China's navy is geared toward one thing, invading Taiwan across a narrow straight and hoping the US blinks.

They will fair very poorly in a shooting war against the US, much less when Japan gets into the act with their four light/medium carriers and a much more potent navy than people think.

Japan is ranked #8 in the world as far as total warpower.

The chi-coms have small numerical advantage in subs but their quietest sub sounds like a Cummings diesel under water when compared to US subs.....Easy meat for our hunter-killer attack subs.

Quit falling for all the neocon and commie propaganda of chi-com superiority.

Economically. Authoritarians like Trump and Putin and establishing a New World Order. Australia, Canada, Europe are not the bad guys or aggressors.

You didnt solve the riddle

Trump is pushing other countries into fair trade with us or no trade at all

But that is our right as a sovereign nation

Should they be stupid like we were? You all admit now that we made dumb trade deals. I told you it was on purpose. Because American blue collar labor cost too much. So the American corporations moved their operations overseas.

Every country except the USA protected it's vital industries. Just like we should have. Why didn't we? I told you. It was on purpose. Our workers made too much. And were getting pensions to boot. And you said they were lazy and overpaid. Made it easy to ship their jobs overseas. Now you claim you want to bring jobs back to lazy overpaid Americans? Interesting.

This would be more evidence the rich are taking over not just America but the rest of the world. Trump wants every other country to get rid of tariffs that protect their vital industries. Interesting.

We just need to bring back manufacturing chips, cars, weapons, airplanes, food, medicine and anything else we need to be making ourselves if the shit ever hits the fan.

How far can China do amphibious landings with logistics?

Why do you insist on getting everything backwards

I remember when libs bashed corps for trade protectionism by keeping foreign companies

According to the left thats how the corps mistreated the little guys in the old days

By the mid 90’s ross perot was warning about a giant sucking sound of jobs moving to mexico but nobody listened

If you had an American factory competing against cheap chinese products you better outsource or go bankrupt

I dont know

They may not have the ability in invade Taiwan now

And if the trade war succeeds, even less anolity in the future

Again, there is always a little truth to everything MAGA says. Tiny bit.

US President Ronald Reagan welcomed the Canadian initiative and the United States Congress gave the President the authority to sign a free trade agreement with Canada, subject to it being presented for Congressional review by October 5, 1987.

The impetus for a North American free trade zone began with U.S. president Ronald Reagan, who made the idea part of his 1980 presidential campaign. After the signing of the Canada–United States Free Trade Agreement in 1988, the administrations of U.S. president George H. W. Bush, Mexican president Carlos Salinas de Gortari, and Canadian prime minister Brian Mul
roney agreed to negotiate what became NAFTA.

By the time Clinton signed NAFTA, it was pretty much a done deal. And PLEASE don't tell me Clinton disappointed you back then because I remember us liberals and unions felt betrayed and you cons loved it.

You are insane. TDS... We are actually doing the very opposite with tariffs. We are destroying globalism. By doing so, we are in no ways trying to take over the world. What is the matter with the liberal mind that they think globalism is a good thing and weakening America, the best liberty based nation on earth, a good thing?

Free trade with canada is a far different animal than with mexico or china

The canadians have practically the same work and environmental costs of doing business as we do in America

As long they dont cheat by subsidizing some industries thats the essence of fair trade

Mexico and china on the other had have never played by our rules and that gives them an unfair advantage

Yellow Yalies Yell, and Hollow Fools Follow

Chickenhawk Neo-Cons need to put their Cold-War nostalgia on a popsicle and suck on it.

We are staging a direct assault on global trade and every other nation on earth.

Building a wall of tarrif around the United States will only leave us weakened, with high coat heavy industry that will have to be subsidized out of your pocket. They will have little incentive to manage costs or build better products. They are protected.

Globalism will continue because everyone benefits.

And the US will be cut out and left behind.

Look at the economies of most traditional red states. Poverty or just above.

Now look at the economies of Texas and Florida. Better off states. The one reason is international trade (aka globalism). If they didn’t have a coastline, their economy would be the same as the economy of Arkansas.
