This is how you stop gun crime. 20 years if you steal a gun from a gun store. Notice you don't ban guns by doing this....

And because it doesn't focus on banning guns, democrats will oppose it....they might even try to reduce the sentences for stealing guns......

The only problem...the mandatory minimum needs to be 20 years.....there is too much leeway for democrts to let the criminal off the hook...

The bill, if it were to become law, would double the current 10 year maximum sentence for stealing from an FFL. The bill also aims to add minimum mandatory sentences. In the event of a person being convicted of a burglary, they’d be looking at a minimum of three years imprisonment. In the event of a robbery, a person convicted as such would be looking at a five year minimum sentence.

This bill does nothing to directly impact the Second Amendment negatively or positively, however, by adding harsher penalties to such acts could act as a deterrent. As the bill’s title suggests, such measures could protect FFLs. This bill is not likely to pass both chambers of Congress and progress to be signed by the President. Further, if it were to reach Biden-Harris, it’s doubtful they’d support a harsh on crime measure.

The new jails are going to take up so much space, so that it will be necessary to turn abandoned churches into prisons instead of second hand junk stores.

Not that I want to rush it, but has capital punishment by firing squad been considered yet?

If we stopped sending junkies to prison and killed the pedophiles we'd have more space than we know what to do with.

The only thing I see wrong with this is that it's a blatant attempt to pander to the Retail gun businesses.
Protectionism at its finest~

You forgot to add 10 years to the 20 if you stole one from and individual, their car or home.
Plus. We need to go back to stop and frisk to get the illegal (often stolen) guns out of the hands of the thugs.

So Sheniqua or Lawerence, who currently steal from retail stores like Walgreens, walk out freely and suffer no consequences, will now face stiff penalties because it's an FFL?

90% of the gun crimes in the US would be stopped if the Democrats running these big city ghetto shitholes would just enforce the existing criminal laws.

But they won't so we have gun crime, mostly among Black and Brown druggies, street thugs and gang bangers.

The only remedy to attempt a society's breakdown is to resort to extremist measures such as the 2Aguy crackpot is suggesting.

So the question becomes, is he serious about his idea of 20 years in jail?

You know very well that it's extremist nonsense, and so you must be just having some fun with the idea.

Is it a good idea to turn his shit into a joke at this stage of the game?

We can all start doing that too but it may call for some forum rule changes?

It is an idea, based on a crime. It would affect the rate of that type of crime. Theft crime, including weapons theft is a crime, strictly of the choice of the criminal to choose crime. Normal people, do not care the assholes are locked up for a great number of years, as it will keep them off the streets making the rest of us safer. In this case, it is a crime, that leads to more illegal guns on the street and that makes it particularly egregious to society at large. I have no problem at all with very long mandatory lockup of weapons criminals. I do not regard it as extremist nonsense.

It's an absolutely assinine idea, it's ridiculous, and if you don't know it then I've very seriously overestimated your intelligence.

Would you like to know why? I'm going to tell you in very simple terms.

It's illegal to shoot songbirds and it's illegal to shoot your neighbours for shitting on your doorstep. But there's no distinction between the two in that asshole's vacant mind on whether both gun crimes warrant 20 years!

Or if it's just a big fkn joke to you and him, then just ignore everything I've told you. Let's all just have some fun with spamming the forum!

If it's not a joke then ask him to lay out clearly his opinion on each and every gun related crime, complete with his expert opinion on the penalty in years.

Your choice White.

Note before anybody tries that copout on the gungoon asshole's behalf!

We have a lot of open deserts that would make dandy unpleasant jails with a few tents and some razor wire fences.

The State of Florida owns a lot of land next to Disney World so that would be a great place to put a prison. Governor DeSantis said so.

However, your desert idea sounds better.
