The problem was in a political motivated hysteria, they charged him with second degree murder. Complete prosecutorial overreach. They might have been able to get him with manslaughter, but there was clearly no way to show intent

I think you got that just a bit ass backwards, it was Martin who was mean. Zimmerman didn't ask for all the lying assed news coverage or the race baiting presidents involvement. Charges would have never been brought absent the coverage and it cost Zimmerman a butt load of money. I don't blame him a bit for trying to capitalize on the sale of his gun.
