For all I know, he is talking about a completely DIFFERENT ad in the first interview...a Romney ad...and he is was informed between interviews that that was not the ad they were referencing.

Reagan lied about how tax cuts would balance the budget regardless of spending .... but pols have always overstated their claims, and there's no dispute that Thatcher and Reagan's economics grew the world economy like never before, and we had 25 years plus of near continuous expansion. And Reagan never lied about his willingness to raise taxes, but he wanted the feds to have less power over spending it.

The rubes were sold the notion that the budget would be balanced without ever raising taxes. Norquist sold that as Reagan dogma, and HW actually lost an election on that, and ironically his tax increase eventually led to solving the savings and loan crisis, and wait for it .... the gummit actually made money selling off the properties it had to take when the banks failed.
