AI sure is exciting, right? It's going to do a lot of tasks that humans now do.

But what happens when AI is doing just about everything?

What is everyone going to be doing all day long?

An interesting article I was reading just a bit ago...

Makes me wonder about some of the nutjobs on here who have recently taken to routinely posting trancriptions of their AI sessions as a means of forum interaction.

We have a vast excess of office workers we can't continue supporting. We need more workers doing physical labor, especially in the skilled trades. There could be some messy years of AI doing a very poor job of replacing humans, until the office employment situation settles down at an amount of work we actually need done by real intelligence, if there are any people left who know how to do that work. The much higher electricity demand of AI guarantees it will be gone eventually, but it could stick around just long enough that office skills disappear from the labor market.

The AI effect on Amazon becomes a moot point as Amazon goes bankrupt. Without cheap energy, Amazon doesn't exist.

No kidding. I do from time to time, use AI for google searches. It gives me wrong answers. I then tell it the right answer. AI will agree with the right answer while giving a bullshit reason why the wrong answer is right.

Too many people here are just here to insult ir post political gotcha talking points.

They start a thread with a vague title, the first post will be an insult or a dumb comment, " look at this."

Nothing more than a link or an AI/google search

AI is nothing more than the same old computer programming searching a bigger database.

Which is the best reason to make sure that Deep State asks you to work for them in some meaningful way .
Otherwise you will end up being another Sheeplet whose every step and wish is monitored and evaluated .
A fully controlled Mind Slave

P.S. The present six billion plus nuisances will have disappeared long ago .
Good fertiliser .

The think about AI is that it is only a suggestion. It cannot make you do anyting and it is up to the individual to act on it or ignore the suggestion.

Much like someone telling you what you should do. Well accept your mother then their is a certain amount of obligation involved.

Once it gets put in control of ambient machines it'll be able to make us do things.

if it is a soothing sound that will help me sleep then I can accept that.
I can put soothing sounds on myself and have no need for a machine to take control of it, and no wish to be stupid enough to enable machines to gradually take control.

True in a way.

But the complexity and speed far surpasses anything humans can do (even collectively).

The potential for abuse is staggering. We're going to need new laws, new controls.

With photonics just over the horizon, the problem gets even worse. The Terminator gets real, untraceable political assassinations become frighteningly easy, criminals can figure out who to target, cartels can make drugs without endangering their own people...

It's a new world, and we humans aren't quite ready for it. We have to find a way to rise to the occasion, remain in control. It won't be easy. Neuroscience is way behind in terms of understanding real brains.
