Yes...they can stop you, and obviously they do. The police need to find a reason.....and they do. They can also enter your home at any time to inspect your gun safe to make sure it is locked. If they search and find that you did not lock it.....say bye bye to your ability to own guns anymore....
We have over 22.5 million Americans who can legally carry guns in public, 16 million do so on a daily basis...they are not the ones shooting people with their guns...the criminals who can't legally buy, own or carry guns, and who can't pass a mandated gun background check are the ones shooting people.....even after being arrested over and over again for felony level crimes. The democrat party keeps releasing them.
American gun owners with carry permits are far more law abiding than the average citizen and more law abiding than even sworn police officers...

You can own more than just a shotgun in the UK but you are more limited than citizens in the United States. Perhaps that is because you are legally just subjects of the crown.
Our wonderful Democrats are planning to turn us into subjects of Democrat Presidents but they will find many of us are not willing to play that game. We prefer to be free and that one of the main reasons we value the right to own firearms.
We can even own fully automatic rifles and hold shooting events using them and other military weapons.

Up until the English civil war, the UK had an absolute monarchy, that means, the Royals were in charge. Then power was handed over to Parliament. That means, the monarchy became an constitutional monarchy. That means, the King/Queen is just a figure head of state (just like the figure head of the US is the president) and the ceremonies etc.. you see on TV are purely a rubber stamping and tradition exercise. The only power the King/Queen has is to sack the Prime Minister if he/she doesn't quit if beaten in an election.
So what does subject of the crown mean? As the King/Queen allows the winning party to form a government, the MP's in the commons are subjects of the Crown. Everyone else are subjects of the UK, that means, they're British Nationals. Subjects of the US are called American Nationals.
