The Wizard of Oz (1939) A look back Memoriam....

I like the guy at the door of the emerald city who wont let dorothy in.

She tells her sob story & the dude at the door starts crying BUCKETS of tears...Like somebody put of fire hose on him
:laughing0301:

When you realize Glinda was really a bad witch.

Glinda to Dorothy: "Are you a good witch or a bad witch?"
Also Glenda: "Only bad witches are ugly."

Sooooo, what are you really saying about Dorothy's looks?

And of course, Glinda telling Dorothy that she always had the power to go home, but not before sending her through a long, dangerous ordeal.

I also thought it was cool how it was in black & white until dorothy opened the door to munchkin land...then it was in color.

When she was back in bed in kansas...it was in black & white again.

Good thing it was just a dream.

My little daughter's 1st. grade teacher thought my daughter might need some therapy. She would draw all these happy little pictures of her stick figure family with our house and trees and green grass and a sun...and a tornado. Like maybe she felt impending doom. I laughed and told her my daughter watched The Wizard of Oz every day. She would mimic the Lollipop League, and it was perfect.

The greatest bit of pop philosophy of my yoot:

"...if I ever go looking for my heart's
desire again, I won't look any further
than my own backyard. Because if it
isn't there, I never really lost it to

begin with!"

What the ever-lovin' FUCK? Too bad Christopher Columbus pre-dated the Wiz by five hundred years, and wasted his time sailing across the fucking ocean!

That was one hell of a lesson she learned there. If you can't find your "heart's desire" in your own back yard then...fuck it! You never really lost it to begin with!

I liked when the apple tree got angry and started throwing apples back at Dorothy...:)

Everything in the movie works. The plot is connected to the real world and the technicolor is remarkable for 1939. It's still enjoyable even in my old age. Hollywood must have hired every little person in the country. The legend about the little person hanging himself on film is still debatable.
