The reason we are seeing their political party going full retard and lashing out and doubling down on their mythology

Earlier this month, Mark Morford, discussing the new report, opined that:the remaining white Christians in power are in a panic, working desperately to salvage some of the issues with which they once forcibly divided the nation.

...They’re not going down without a fight – or rather, not so much a fight (they’ve already lost), more like a long groan, lashing out anywhere they can, a dying animal determined to cause as much damage as possible before fading into irrelevance.

...here in America, it seems we’re finally wrestling free of a toxic, severely limiting view that’s poisoned us, very slowly, for decades. We are not, in fact, some meek and flailing nation, seeking salvation from a ruthless (male) God but being told – wow, what a horrible teaching – we can never attain it. We are, with any luck and grace, becoming a true rainbow coalition, a messily divine mix, merely needing to realize just how shockingly blessed we already are. No Bible, dogma, or eternally disappointed deity required.

It the experiment is "over" then Western Civilization will go down with it but you'll still be the Castro's Butt boy

You should not talk bad about Bernie supporters like that.

In 2009, Michael Spencer (aka Internet Monk) wrote a series of blog posts about The Coming Evangelical Collapse. In the first post, he made a prediction:I believe that we are on the verge- within 10 years- of a major collapse of evangelical Christianity; a collapse that will follow the deterioration of the mainline Protestant world and that will fundamentally alter the religious and cultural environment in the West. I believe this evangelical collapse will happen with astonishing statistical speed; that within two generations of where we are now evangelicalism will be a house deserted of half its current occupants, leaving in its wake nothing that can revitalize evangelicals to their former “glory.”

The party is almost over for evangelicals; a party that’s been going strong since the beginning of the “Protestant” 20th century. We are soon going to be living in a very secular and religiously antagonistic 21st century in a culture that will be between 25-30% non-religious.

A significant explanatory factor of why evangelicalism is in decline is demographics: nearly half of evangelicals are over the age of 50, and over 80 percent are white. In contrast only 17 percent of evangelicals are in the 18-29 age demographic. Meanwhile, those claiming no religious affiliation has risen to 20 percent -- much of the so-called "nones" are Millenials. In 2014, Fred Clark discussed the accuracy of Spencer's predictions, noting that what had originally appeared to be "a pretty audacious claim" was increasingly supported by demographic trends.

Evangelicals have identified their movement with the culture war and with political conservatism. This was a mistake that will have brutal consequences. They are not only going to suffer in losing causes, they will be blamed as the primary movers of those causes. Evangelicals will become synonymous with those who oppose the direction of the culture in the next several decades. That opposition will be increasingly viewed as a threat, and there will be increasing pressure to consider evangelicals bad for America, bad for education, bad for children and bad for society.

Radical atheists and progressives follow the same philosophy as Caligula and will likewise just steer our civilization in the same direction. Much as Rome fell to the barbarians when it became to degenerate to govern itself, if atheists have their way America will just decline and a more organized, totalitarian form of government will step in, when government-worshiping atheists and millennials have nothing else to depend on after the impending economic collapse.

One which much like the Inquisition, will be much less friendly to atheists than our current one.

Decades of systemic mistreatment of people that evangelical Christians dislike have rendered the "Persecuted" Christian trope absurd

If atheists want to usher in a new Dark Age, then I hope they're prepared for a new Inquisition. Dark ages don't have a track record of being atheist friendly.

And you failed godman said he was coming back soon, and 2000 years later...................crickets
Hint, arguing to make a point using a mythological book instead of facts and demographics make you look, less then intelligent
According to Biblical Canon, "a thousand years is but a day to God". Don't let that stop you from bashing people who believe differently from you, though.
