The white chicago girl being set on fire by a black man with 72 prior arrests is a political issue. The left does not care about black on white crime.

This is buried on the community board for some reason. This is not a local issue like my neighborhood needing some potholes filled.

How can someone have 72 arrests and be in the position to set someone on fire?

This is a HUGE PROBLEM. Chicago knows what needs to be done. LAW ENFORCEMENT.

WHAT HAPPENED “NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW?”
It's time for the federal government to create a new federal law and call it the Habitual Criminal Act. The Act would deem it a federal crime if a criminal garner's multiple "violent" offenses, regardless if said crimes were just committed in one state only. This nonsense of racking long rap sheets needs to end.

Its called policing and longer sentences and concealed carry so thugs can be dealt with saving taxpayers money for taking out the trash

I couldn't agree more. Its easy to say--as a liberal--"Society has forgotten these people" or "Society has given up on these people." And that may be the case. But society isn't the only factor in that equation; there is the "people"....if you're not seeking help; if you're not seeking counseling, if you're not seeking embetterment...that fine. When you start violating the law, that is not fine.

I fully support what you're getting at here. Build more federal prisons for these people. Put them in there. Get them some counseling if they want it. If not...oh well. But they won't be breaking any more laws on the outside.

Of course what the X factor is--as with every prison--staffing. It's a horrible job with miserable outcomes for those who take them. The ALE is 59.... give that some thought.

But yeah..I like the idea. I never saw an issue with 3 strikes and you're out personally.

There are many states with three strikes laws, but one thing they have in common is the judge's determination on each case. When activist judges are chosen, you end up with judges that completely ignore the three strikes law that should be applied.
This is where the federal government should come in. It should have an override authority in the cases of habitual criminals.
I still remember a case where a two time convicted criminal was warned that any further crime would be his third strike and sure enough the guy didn't take the warning seriously. While walking by an open air cafe, he grabbed a slice of pizza from one of the diners. The cops were called, he went before the judge and was sentenced to life. He just couldn't resist stealing and thought it was funny. He learned a valuable lesson. He probably continued stealing from other prisoners and found out that they exact their own version of punishment.
