The U.S. position on China and Taiwan

Prolonging the current status quo as much as possible - where Taiwan is de facto a sovereign nation, but officially a 'one China' policy is endorsed - seems the best and the only viable option.

Okay.

I knew a few Korean War Vets that would've dealt with you quickly.

You mean the ones that had to fight the Chinese because MacArthur disobeyed the President's orders and started attacking targets near the Yalu River? Where Truman had to fire MacArthur becuase he was openly talking about nuking targets in China. It seems they need to take their complaint up with MacArthur and Truman.

Seriously -- what is wrong with you?

Do you live every day like you do on here? Why bother? It has to be a struggle.

The Korean war should have ended when we drove them north of the 38th Paralell.

Instead, we moved far enough north that China felt threatened, and they reacted exactly the way you'd expect a country that had been repeatedly invaded over the previous century to react.

I believe you have a narrative that is not supported by the facts in a fuller context. but ok

your analogy still sucked.

If true, the US should push back. There would be no N. Korea today and US troops outside China's back door. China will do everything possible to prevent a unified Korea. What the North need is a regime change from the inside.

Actually, it was perfect in that it would never be tolerated. Most countries defend their territorial integrity, and the world supports it.

China is being amazingly tolerant of Taiwan. They could have squashed them like a bug decades ago.
