Many on the right may try to avoid this subject, but I find it a healthy debate.

Remember, only the Left refuses to debate and resorts to name calling because really that is all they have.

So, what say you? Do you think Ted or Tucker won the debate, or did neither and why?

Tucker.

Cruz clearly had NFI from whence he was pulling his biblical references.

For someone who was reputedly such a hot prosecutor, Cruz walked into every leading rhetorical booby trap Tucker laid down.

I will say that when Tucker questioned Ted on the population of Qatar and Ted did not know how many people lived there, he seemed to imply he needed to know this to evaluate policy regarding Qatar, which I find absurd. It would be like asking FDR before declaring war on Japan if he knew the population of Japan. The population of Japan had nothing to do with his policy regarding the Japanese government.

But Ted should have known in the Bible where it said that God will bless those that bless Israel and curse those that curse Israel and have great deal of knowledge about its context if he is going to use that scripture as the basis for support of Israel.

What kind of pie?

I know you hate this topic, but maybe you will learn something..............begrudgingly, that is.

This is the scripture in question.

Genesis 12:3
1Then the LORD said to Abram, “Leave your country, your kindred, and your father’s household, and go to the land I will show you.

2 will make you into a great nation,

and I will bless you;

I will make your name great,

so that you will be a blessing.

3I will bless those who bless you

and curse those who curse you;

and all the families of the earth

will be blessed through you.”

Something of note here, there was no nation of Israel when God told Abraham this.

For those less theologically inclined, the name Israel was later given to Abraham's grandson Jacob who later had 12 sons, which later represented the 12 tribes of Israel.

Genesis 32:22

Jacob's Name Is Changed to Israel

22-23 Jacob got up in the middle of the night and took his wives, his eleven children, and everything he owned across to the other side of the Jabbok River for safety. 24 Afterwards, Jacob went back and spent the rest of the night alone.

A man came and fought with Jacob until just before daybreak. 25 When the man saw that he could not win, he struck Jacob on the hip and threw it out of joint. 26 They kept on wrestling until the man said, “Let go of me! It's almost daylight.”

“You can't go until you bless me,” Jacob replied.

27 Then the man asked, “What is your name?”

“Jacob,” he answered.

28 The man said, “From now on, your name will no longer be Jacob. You will be called Israel, because you have wrestled with God and with men, and you have won.”

Tucker has a small, hard core following.

Tend to agree somewhat....But the point was made; Ted really knows nothing about Persia other than MULLAHS BAD!

Especially so when he passes himself off as a man of deeply held religious beliefs...Tucker's an Episcopalian (Catholic Lite) dabbler, and appears to have a better handle on scripture.

Neither man seems to be an expert on scripture, just saying.

But one does not have to be an expert to have deep religious convictions.

I think Ted would have been better served using this scripture

Ezekiel 37:21-22
and say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will take the Israelites out of the nations where they have gone. I will gather them from all around and bring them back into their own land. I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel. There will be one king over all of them and they will never again be two nations or be divided into two kingdoms.

Israel got their nation back in 1948. Is it not a fulfillment of prophesy?

Now for those who roll their eyes at the Bible, imagine the odds of this prophesy coming about.

First, imagine the odds of the Judaism, or it's religious off branches even surviving. Most religions have not survived and are not practiced today throughout recorded history. However, most surviving religions today are Bible related around the world, that is, those that have roots to other ancient religions.

Now imagine the odds of both the religion of the Bible surviving, along with the nation of Israel. As with most religions, most nations, like the nation of Babylon or Assyria, simply vanish forever.

Now calculate the odds of the prophesy saying that the nation of Israel would actually vanish, and then reappear down the road.

Tucker had a better handle on it in that particular instance, and that is what I and others who've seen th interview have to go on.

OK, but what is the "why" and where can that "why" be found....Cruz was woefully unprepared for that question, for a man of his alleged deep faith.

Agreed.

Ted, get together man!!!

At the same time, losing a debate does not make you wrong.

I will say this though, Tucker asked Ted where in the Bible it said that God would bless those that bless Israel, but later commented it was in Genesis 12. Tucker asked the question simply as a gottcha question. He was simply trying to make Ted look bad which is kind of crappy.

I think what people fail to understand about the Bible is that it was written by Jews, even the NT, as all prophesy relates to the nation of Israel.

For example, there is no mention of the United States.

To lose sight of this is a mistake.

The modern 'state of Israel' appropriated the name "Israel". The name "Israel" was removed from the Jews in the days of Rehoboam and Jeroboam and given solely to the other tribes, the newly formed northern kingdom of "Israel". The Jews (with the tribe of Levi and Benjamin) were called the kingdom of Judah, or what could be called the kingdom of the Jews.

Fast forward to today. The Jews are still under God's curse while the other Israelites are enjoying the birthright blessings, which remained with Joseph. It is noteworthy that the Jews who do prosper do so while living within the Israelite nations. The state of Israel is an end time anomaly that will set the stage for the tribulation, Armageddon, and the return of Jesus Christ. See Ezekiel 5.

If they're both linking our support of Israel to the Scriptures, then they're both wrong.

I support Israel because they're an ally of ours.

So "we" give the Satire board a break and come here with a flame thread? In the OP?
