I think before we take the route of bringing in more foreigners, especially at a time like this with coronavirus around, perhaps we should look at outlawing workplace random drug screens.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to see people tanked up on the job, but these drugs screens go beyond work time and into your private life. This is especially true with pot smokers where evidence stays in their system up to three weeks.

As a truck driver, I talked to so many of our customers looking for help that have applicants, but they can't hire them because they can't pass a drug screen. I've seen long time workers fired when the company started instituting the policy. They were great workers otherwise.

So maybe it's time to take a look at that possibility. Again, if somebody is tanked on the job, send them to the doctor or hospital but only to test for their sobriety at the time.
