Lee Zeldin, the Environmental Protection Agency administrator, has one primary-residence mortgage in Long Island and another in Washington, D.C., according to loan records.

More than taxes, if the market value is close to what he claimed there would not be a guilty plea. Market value and assessed value were not close to what he claimed.

the banks set the interest rates based off of risk. Its their duty to appraise the property to determine the value of the property. If they are satisfied with the risk, they can give a premium interest rate. At the end of the day, its the banks job to appraise the property to make sure it matches the value they are being told by the person taking a loan
