Vietnam is actually a potential weapon we could use against China. If, for example, we're trying to isolate China, Vietnam is an option for off-shoring (for some things, not all). We're not going to completely re-shore. For some things, it won't make sense. Besides, China has a long history of fighting with China. That's one of the reasons why Vietnam has become a lot more US-friendly in recent decades.

The most important objective - at least as MAGA puts it - is China containment. This is the exact opposite of how you do it.

I was not arguing the tariffs in this thread..but rather the 'lame' and obvious calculations that Trump trotted out as a prop.
