The SEC needs to STFU

Not if it’s from donors.
I just don’t get why you want the farce, and why you want elite athletes to be withheld any compensation while the schools and NCAA make billions off their asses

Players should get a good cut. They risk their livelihood to play
Then they should form a minor league system.
Colleges are supposed to be institutions of higher learning. If they want to hire highly paid performers to entertain then they should hire them. Just as they do with musicians and other acts.
But should they consider those outside performers as students? That’s the current farce and that is being stretched beyond the limits right now.

State institutions are subsidized by taxpayers. These colleges are fronts for pro football teams. Pretty simple. Some college teams lose money because their dough has to fund the other sports.
But the football teams aren’t. They are a license to print money for those schools.

It has been fun watching the SEC get destroyed or struggle this year. All the pundits are so dismissive of all other teams…

I can’t tell you how many pundits were confidently picking Tennessee over OSU as if it was a done deal.

And Michigan taking down whiney entitled Alabama is even more delicious
Completely agree. The transfer portal and NIL have striped the SEC’s ability to hoard talent. There’s a reason Saban retired when he did.

So no band, orchestra, club activities, inter mural sports or any other extra curricular activities that aren’t directly linked to education. Right? They should also cut any number of majors and minors.

Pro college football is no longer linked to education. Intramural football is. That would be a closer analogy to what you suggested.

Student participation activities.
I get where you're coming from, but you're wishing for something unrealistic and obsolete.

1. It's a farce to think that many top-tier athletes are going to these colleges for an education.
2. It's BS that schools, clothing lines, video games etc. make so much off their likeness and they got no cut
3. It's BS that the NCAA made billions off their likeness and they got no cut
4. It's BS that the players were so heavily scrutinized that they couldn't even be bought a cheeseburger or the billionaire NCAA would punish the player the program.

There's no "honorable student-athlete" anymore... that's an NCAA talking point to continue to make billions and not give any of the players anything. I would say your mindset is punishing these players who risk and commit so much.

That’s throwing out the baby with the bath water. Like legalizing murder because it can’t be completely prevented.
The problem is TV money and greedy college presidents, etc.
Just as Bill Yeoman warned.

You're hanging onto an obsolete notion. You can root for the top school/NCAA bigwigs to make billions while players make zilch.. or you can side with the players and let them make some of the cut that they rightfully deserve/earned.

Which side are you on?

Let the players create a pro league if they’re so in demand and let colleges be colleges.
The pretense of players being college students is absurd.
What’s the next step? How much money will college players demand in order to choose a school?

Have you ever heard of the wet monkey experiment?

That’s what this is. That and nostalgia. If college athletes had been given money from the start no one would care now including RoshawnMarkwees.

What's this?

No SEC team in the Natty?

Not one?
