I remember liking this movie when I was young.
It is a mixture of two genre, "Roman" movies and Biblical.
And it is awful.
We decided to watch it last night, and made it through about 30 minutes before giving up.
The acting is so overacted that it almost seems like it is supposed to be a parody. The storyline makes little sense, muddy and so incohesive you would think a child wrote it.

How on earth did I ever like this movie?

Overacting was a thing for a while, a few actors made a successful career out of it..........

...try David and Bathsheba with Gregory Peck

Got lousy reviews,

mostly about Burtons wooden acting.
Director Henry Koster chose Donald C. Klune--his second assistant director--to play the role of Jesus. Klune would thus sign all the extras' vouchers and finish the paperwork while still in costume. He also had to take his meals in his dressing room, as producer Frank Ross thought it would be inappropriate for "Jesus" to eat in the studio commissary.

Don't remember it. Remember the title, but not the movie.
