The Republican Party is embracing lunacy and madness

What is the old saying about not truly being able to help someone until they learn to help themselves?

If this keeps up, and at this point, there is little, if any, indication that wiser, cooler, and smarter heads will prevail, the Republican Party will not last as a viable political party that people will trust to govern.

If someone would have released at statement a few years ago like the Oregon GOP just did, I would have believed it was a fabrication. But, as they say, truth is stranger than fiction.

The best that can be said about this (and it's not good, to be sure) is that it's some kind of shared delusion.

All I can say at this point is that these guys better snap out of it soon, or they're going to find themselves irrelevant.

Portman's retirement is a really bad sign.

The party is being overrun with rage, paranoia and misinformation.
The rage is an addition from the weasel-in-chief. The right-wingers' paranoia is the result of six decades of the GOP's Southern Strategy. The misinformation, that was a gift from King Ronny, with his deregulation of facts caused by the elimination of the Fairness Doctrine. Hello, FOX Noise, where the truth is a stranger locked outside.

.

The inherent racism is so obvious. You see, when minorities fail to succeed in the economy, it's clearly their own fault. When rural Whites are no failing to thrive in the economy, someone else is to blame. Along comes Trump who tells them that they've been forgotten. They just ate it up because it absolved them of any personal responsibility. The irony is this: Trump doesn't give a damn about poor rural White people at all. He never has. In his entire life, Trump has only cared about very wealthy Whites who live in big cities, virtually any and all celebrities, and beautiful women. That's it!

1 Trump made a deal with US,. He supported us, and we supported him. It was not about "Caring". It was about policy.

2. You said wacism, like a retarded child. YOu are a retarded child.

3 A desire for better representation of our economic interests does NOT mean that we have "failed", it means we want a better environment to work and plan in. You are an asshole.

Trump has done nothing for rural Whites. In fact, the opposite is true. The trade war with China has hurt agricultural exports, and the subsidies haven't come close to making up the difference. However, he did try (unsuccessfully) to cut Obamacare without offering any alternative. Rural Whites are fortunate that failed because it would have negatively affected their health care. Didn't you notice when Trump said a healthcare plan would be announced in a couple of weeks? It never happened. And what happened with the infrastructure plan? It was never announced. How about reestablishing coal as a major source of energy? It didn't happen. How about bringing back American manufacturing jobs? It never happened. Trump doesn't support you. He panders to you and tells you what you want to hear. Then he goes to play golf at one of his country clubs where you are not welcome to join.

Feel free to wake up any time!

Nope. I want pro-job policies and illegals deported so that wages rise.

Wanted. I have given up on that, for at least the next four years.

Trump didn't have policies. He had whims. You guys figured in his calculus in only two ways. The first was a rhetorical flourish, without follow through, and you ate it up, and Trump walked away from it both literally and figuratively. In other words, when Trump left the stage, the idea he had espoused, left his mind. The second way you guys figured in his calculus was the fact that he just loved to bask in the glow of your adoration. It just comes down to a relationship that only went in one direction. You gave, and Trump took.

You want illegals deported? Will you work the jobs that they do for the wages they work for? If so, it's not even necessary to deport illegals. Just tell Congress that you want to make it necessary for any and all employers to verify the citizenship or legal status of anyone they hire. Then, if they fail to do so, you want them to be fined an amount of money that's more than a modest slap on the wrist. And if the fines don't work, you want employers who have multiple violations to face arrest and prosecution. That would be effective. Did Trump and the Republican House and Senate do that when they had the majority for two full years. No! And why not? Because they like the cheap labor, and they're pretty darn sure that Americans would not willingly do those jobs at the rate of pay they offered.

The unemployment figures and, especially rise in lower end wages, were early but encouraging signs that our deal with Trump was going to be mutually beneficial, prior to covid of course.

Your ignoring that information, is very self serving of you. It lets you pretend that people you don't like are stupid and evil and you can feel superior to them, and joke with your friends how much better you are then them.

I'm sure that there are other ways to address the issue. THe reality is that all the other candidates had demonstrated that they had no intentions of addressing the issue. Their goal was adjusting to the changes to serve their partisan purposes.

Trump offered us polices that were crafted to serve our perceived interests. That is a valid political motive.

That you demonize us for that, is not valid.

It seems that in order to stop Democrats from raising taxes and implementing more social programs, the traditional Republicans are aligning themselves with Confederates, Nazis, White Supremacists & lunatics.

All of those groups are historically TOTAL LOSERS. You only need to remember the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol to see what a bunch of total f*cking idiots these people are.

If the Traditional Republicans were smart they'd dump these losers and try to regain the Anti-Trump Republicans and middle of the road independents. They should accept that there will be some Democratic changes that are inevitable, but if they were more moderate they could limit those changes.

Their continued alignment with these nutcases will be a disaster for them.

Hey - If they had the brains to have removed Trump from office a year ago, Mike Pence would be President today.

Somehow, I doubt they can scrape together enough brains to figure this out.

There are no Confederates, republicans have NOT aligned with nazis.

That you lie like that, shows that you know you are on the wrong side. That you are the bad guy, not us.

For as long as they allow themselves to be bullied, the Trump scum will continue to bully them.

But the Trump scum are nothing but a bag of wind. The worst they can do is to primary the Republicans - and if they do that they'll be handing the seat to the Democrats.

The Republicans need to stand up to these bullies - and remember to NEVER give in to terrorists.

It seems that in order to stop Democrats from raising taxes and implementing more social programs, the traditional Republicans are aligning themselves with Confederates, Nazis,

There are no Confederates, republicans have NOT aligned with nazis.

That you lie like that, shows that you know you are on the wrong side. That you are the bad guy, not us.

Gaslight much?

The confederates wanted to secede from teh union, and form their own country.

The GOP has NOT aligned with such calls.

YOu are a lying whore.

They're afraid of the Trumpers, and for good reason.

I certainly am. They're angry and they're stupid. There's no more dangerous combination.

Like the old movie "The Anderson Tapes", law enforcement has been tracking these morons for years. Since Jan. 6, they are ready to put these assholes in prison if they try anything violent.

The only thing they can do is to primary Republicans - and that will backfire on them as bad as the Jan. 6 attack did.

Dems are embracing Communist China and censorship.....
I always liked the idea of high speed rails -- kind of ironic that essentially Chinese slaves helped build our first railroads and now we're stealing their ideas because we fell behind them. We have 30 years of endless wars and they have 30,000 miles of high-speed rail lines.

Money losing public works projects didn't originate in China.....did they?
Egypt...the Children of Israel has to build storage houses on land that couldn't support structures.

There seemed to be an awful lot of Confederate flags flying during the Jan. 6 attack.

Only a total f*cking idiot would deny that there were no Confederates among Trump supporters.
