Very simply you are wrong because if you only give money to a few people you only have a few people to spend it.

The governemnt could give one billion to each person if it made sense. Would that help? No, it would encourage everyone to buy stuff and no one to make stuff. Pretty soon there would be nothing to buy.

A society makes progress when people are encouraged to make new innovative stuff. That is how we got from the stone age to here.

If you gave everyone in the stone age a billion dollars would that have helped or hurt??
