ding-----also SOCIETIES are SOCIALISTIC to some extent----taxes and charity are
forms of SOCIALISM
Uh...taxes are not charity.
Heeeeeelllllllllllllooooooooooo
gee---you are dim.
No, he is dead on correct on this point. Taxes are not charity. They are not charity from the perspective of the giver, and they are not charity from the perspective of the recipient.
There is nothing charity like about it. Welfare checks are not charity. SNAP is not charity. Section 8 housing is not charity.
Charity, is the a voluntary action, between people, where the person doing it, is doing it without any coercion, and the person receiving it, knows it is done by choice, and accepts it with gratitude. This action results in a mutual understanding that makes up a relationship in civil society.
None of that is true of taxes and welfare programs. I have no choice, and must pay by threat of force, or even death if I resist. The money is taken without my consent, or approval, and given to people without my consent or approval.
There is nothing voluntary, or charitable about it. If you want to know the difference, most people who are operating on a charitable feeling, want to give as much as they are able to, to help the cause. Do people react the same way to taxes, or do they do whatever they can to get the absolute most deductions possible to avoid paying taxes?
Moreover, the people getting these programs have absolutely no feeling of gratitude, but rather of entitlement. Real charity results in someone feeling as though someone who did not have to, choose to help them, and that results in gratitude.
But the average welfare recipient only feels hatred for the people who gave them welfare, because they feel as though it was your duty, and not only was it your duty, but it wasn't enough.
Having worked at a shelter, and seeing the people there and how they treat people who give charity, verse the attitude of these people... there is no comparison.
