Trump is the one who spent time dunking on the job Obama did (which actually did address some of the problems). He's the one who posted photoshopped pictures of the pool, which were the same shot (same clouds in the background), saying how much better his version was going to be.

Tell me honestly. To treat the water with chemicals would not only be unsafe for wildlife but for the public as well.

I agree. There are a lot of ways to treat the algae without chemicals. Better filtration would be one. Another would be to have a balanced ecosystem. Another would be to not paint the bottom a color that retains heat and causes algae blooms. (A reflective color like white would have done a better job than blue)

But Trump's goal was to slap a nice coat of paint on it before the 250th anniversary and not care what happened after that.

Algae? This struck me as absolute bottom of the barrel stuff. There are more legitimate things to attack Trump for.

Except Cheeto Hitler was the one who bragged about how his renovation of the pool was going to be the most beautiful thing ever, when a lot of sensible people were questioning the rushed job, the no-bid contract to someone who had no experience in large projects, and even the choice of dark blue.

Much like George W. Bush's "Mission Accomplished" banner, sometimes the worst optics are self-inflicted.

As has been noted, Mr Trump started the work during the hottest part of the year and a darker colour increases heat absorption. How microscopic algae are to be removed by individuals with nets and brushes also remains a puzzle.

Apparently the algal blooms will be resolved when the winter weather arrives!

Here's the point.

Trump's entire presidency is a tragedy. And, yes, we should criticize his mishandling of the economy, or his criminal war against Iran, or his Nazi-like tactics against immigrants. These are all awful things, and decent people should be horrified by all of them.

The thing is, you can't have a good laugh about those, because those things are ruining lives.

This is something you can have a good laugh about, because it is so petty and stupid.
