Prussians were long a vassal state of Poland, called Royal Prussia, which paid Homage to Polish royalty in the Prussian Homage.

If not for massive Russia, and persistent Austria attacking Poland, it's likely Prussia would have never been released.

But, Prussians themselves are part Polish, and were the power which unified Germany, they also made up almost all of the best German philosophers, and rocket scientists.

There were 25 million ethnic Poles in Poland in 1939, Nazis had about 85 million ethnic Germans between Germany, and Austria in 1939, and Soviets had control over 160 million in 1939, and vast tracts of resources.
