The idea it is about national security is pure bullshit.

Follow the money:

Ronald Lauder: The heir to the Estée Lauder fortune, is credited with giving Trump the idea of taking over Greenland during his first term, former White House national security adviser John Bolton confirmed to Forbes.
Lauder has since invested, according to the Danish newspaper Politiken, in an unprofitable Greenlandic freshwater bottling company co-owned by Jørgen Wæver Johansen, local chair of the governing Siumut party in Nuuk and husband to Greenland’s minister of foreign affairs, Vivian Motzfeldt, raising concerns about political interference.
Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates and Michael Bloomberg: All have invested since 2019 in Kobold Metals, which has looked for valuable rare earth minerals used in electronic devices through AI-powered exploration of the island.
Sam Altman: The OpenAI CEO invested in Kobold in 2022.
Peter Thiel: The Paypal and Palantir tech titan funded in early 2021 the startup Praxis, which aims to build a technologically advanced “freedom city” on the island.
Howard Lutnick: Trump’s Secretary of Commerce served as CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald, which has invested in Greenland mining company Critical Metals Corp. for over three decades (he has since divested from Cantor and transferred his shares to his adult children).

About Kobold Metals:

KoBold Metals, backed by billionaires including Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates, is using AI and machine learning to explore Greenland's Disko-Nuussuaq project for critical minerals like
nickel, cobalt, copper, and platinum, partnering with London-based company Bluejay Mining, to find materials vital for the clean energy transition, aiming for significant discoveries to power electric vehicles and renewable energy storage.
Project Details:
  • Location: Disko-Nuussuaq area, west coast of Greenland.
  • Partnership: KoBold holds a 51% stake in the project, operated by Bluejay Mining.
  • Minerals Sought: Nickel, copper, cobalt, platinum group metals (PGMs).
  • Technology: Utilizes AI, machine learning (ML), drones, and soil sampling to identify promising drilling sites.

If we know anything by now, is that with Trump it is all about the grift.

If it will line Trump’s pockets or help the billionaire class, the American government is at their disposal.

and the reason in 1867?

Or 1910?

1946?

we tried to buy it then.

was Estee Lauder behind it then?

There is no legitimate reason to invade Greenland.

You're right, there is no legitimate reason to "invade" Greenland. It should be taken by way of economic power, where both parties are relieved with the deal. And given President Trump's ability to make deals that can't be refused, I'm pretty sure he'll work this out.

If we're already doing business there, why do we have to own it?

invade, no.

acquire, yes.
There is no legitimate reason to "acquire" Greenland, unless we intend to destroy the environment there and don't want to put up with those pesky natives.

your opinion.

4 presidents over the last 160 years have had different ideas.

Yes it’s about the natural resources, which directly ties into our national security.

Do you want hostile China, Russia, or soon to be Muslim Europe there in control of those resources or us?

Did you even have to ask that? :laughing0301:

trump’s threat to impose higher tariffs on EU countries is EXACTLY what Poootin wants. He and trump have devised a perfect plan to destroy NATO. That is their goal.

So these people are already exploring Greenland, so what difference does it make to them regarding who owns Greenland?
All the people you listed are lefties BTW.

Greenland is already part of the NATO alliance through Denmark. An attack by China or Russia on Greenland would get NATO involved just as an attack on Greenland by the US would cause the NATO alliance to respond.

Trump did not give a damn about Greenland until he learned there was money to be made.

It makes a difference as Denmark has strict environmental rules and regs and Greenlanders themselves will put limits on what these billionaires can do. As opposed to Trump who will give them carte blanche to these billionaires to wreak havoc upon their land.

The bottom line is that if the Greenlanders wanted to become part of the US or Denmark wanted to sell Greenland I am all for it. I am opposed to the use of economic or military force to coerce them into doing something they don't want to do.
