Well it's been said that 10 times the known amount have had covid. That would mean currently 54 million people have had it, but we still know the death rate and some of those weren't even covid 19 deaths and it's at about 175000. So divide the former into the latter you get about 99.9%. Or a death rate of .003%.

Your death rate is based on everybody who needs a respirator, gets one. If we shot for herd immunity we would have run out of respirators, and other medical resources, and death panels would be determining who was worth saving and who wasn't. Anybody with enough co-mobildity factors would have been set home to die, because the ICU's would have been filled beyond capacity.

The reason the death rats is what it is, was due to controlling the number of new cases, so they would not exceed available capacity.

The reason for the face masks is to not overwhelm the medical industry all at once with people who are sick. What's dumb is there are a lot of people, MOST PEOPLE, wouldn't even need to be hospitalized. They'll get a cold and move on with life.

Those who do get sick however... They either get the flu, that's what happened to me and a couple members of my family, or they die fuck'n horribly. Ever watch someone gasp for breath just to live? I have, my grandpa had a quarter of a lung for over half his life. His primary goal for over half his life was to breath. Putting him on oxygen didn't even do anything for him, because to give him enough to do anything, it would have burned his remaining lung. Did you know that? High concentrated oxygen is BAD FOR YOU. You have to dilute it with other gases or it'll fuck'n destroy your lungs.

He couldn't exercise... Hell, long conversations would wind him. He was still skinny as a rail... Why? Because chewing and swallowing food took time way from breathing.

If you're gonna die... I suggest you find another way to go about it.

Edit: Just because someone you aren't politically aligned with said it, doesn't mean it's wrong. Doesn't mean it's right either... Evidence suggests that it could absolutely overwhelm hospitals, because it DID overwhelm hospitals where they didn't take measures fast enough.
