The 14th amendment says that all laws apply equally to everyone.. Or equal protection under the law..
That is includes marriage laws.. So marriage laws are to be applied equally among everyone..

Having a child had nothing to do with marriage and it never did.. Old folks that are past child bearing age can still get married.. People that can't have kids due to a medical condition can still get married..
