The photo heard around Canada: a simple photo of Gretzky with Trump has so many Canadians going insane on social media. This is how far we have gone.

Simply put, (many) Canadians have lost their minds.

It started when President Trump made a joke about making Canada the "fifty-first State" in order to mock the then-Canadian Prime Minister.
As in when trump lost his mind?
Canadians with three-digit IQ's understood that Trump is a jerk, and it was only a joke.
Some Venezuelans thought that too.
The LAST thing any American Republican wants to bring in a new State, larger than California and mainly populated with Leftists. It would mean the end of the Republican Party in the U.S.
Yes, I remember when they all stood up and denounced trump's words, the silence was deafening.
Trump's joke literally changed the political landscape in Canada over night. That fellow Pete Poillievre was poised to become the next Prime Minister and he didn't even retain his own seat in the next election!

Trump has also said to "Canada" and to the rest of the world that his policies were based on an "America first" philosophy, and he expected other countries (e.g., Canada) to act in THEIR OWN best interests as well. He said that virtually everything we purchase from Canada could be produced in the U.S. or acquired from some other source, so Canada is not in the strongest bargaining position vis a vis the U.S. These are facts.

So (many) Canadians have lost their minds. They won't fly to Florida any more, or vacation anywhere in the U.S. during Winter. They won't buy American stuff. They won't watch American television or go to American movies.

Who is suffering from these decisions? Not the U.S.
How did you reach that conclusion? Your dollar has fallen in value by 10% the past year.
Where does Wayne Gretzky live? I thought it was in California. Maybe I'm wrong.

But isn't President Trump appearing to residents of Alberta, something like Richard Gere did to the character created by Ms. Julia Roberts in the film "Pretty Woman?"

Isn't President Trump setting the stage for the Premier of Alberta to perhaps have more real influence over Canada than the Prime Minister does?

Isn't the attention that President Trump putting on Albertans setting the stage for the Premier of Alberta to have vastly more influence over what Ottawa does in the future, [than has been the case over these past three decades]?
