China walked into Hong Kong, changed laws, arrested pro-West citizens and laughed at the West. Russia went into Crimea after a trumped up referendum.
In both cases, the West lost their reputation for being the defender of free citizens. In the case of Russia, Obama listened to bad intel who told him that arming Ukraine would upset Russia (well no shyte, isn't that the point?). Obama threw Russia out of the G8 as punishment.
In the case of China, it was so brazen and without consequences that it desperately weakened the UK and USA. What consequences have come from this? Any arguing that China should be thrown out of the WTO or UN? They are laughing loudly, once again violating their own agreement with England to allow HK to be independent and autonomous until 2047. What a steal for China. Great economic wealth and control over this wealth.
