There is simply no denying that "The New Deal" was the ultimate raw deal for the American people. It destroyed the U.S. Constitution and consolidated power into the hands of one person inside the Executive Branch. It was a return to the monarchy from which we fought to escape. Listen to the words of the man behind the raw deal - and note his recurring theme: control. It is chilling more than 70 years later to realize how all of this has come to fruition...

Glenn Beck is a hack. He misrepresented the book. For that matter you are a hack as well.
He read it word-for-word, stupid. Watching you libtards attempt to deny reality is fall down hilarious.
How do you know? Have you also read it? I have.
Yes, stupid. Any other lies you'd like to attempt while we're both here?
Liar.
Says the guy denying what was read word-for-word from a book... :eusa_doh:

The new deal saved America, the alternative was a country where the rich lived behind walls with armed guards and everyone else wanting to string them up. Capitalism was dead as Elvis as money simply quit flowing through the economy. The WPA/TVA/REA gave the rural working man the first real paycheck he had ever seen and finally freed them from subsistence agriculture. Now here we are with every rural county served by electricity, roads, flood control, sanitation and the conservative dickheads there badmouthing the new deal. It's like badmouthing truckers with your mouth full.
No matter how many times you repeat liberal propaganda - it doesn't make it true. The raw deal has destroyed America. We're $19 trillion in debt and it started with the raw deal. We have record number of people on food stamps - and it started with the raw deal. We have record number of people who have dropped out of the work force - and it started with the raw deal. Furthermore - even if your liberal propaganda lies were true - it doesn't even matter. The entire concept of the United States was liberty - not about "prosperity". If people like you couldn't figure out how to survive and thrive under liberty, oh well. It didn't justify violating the law and pissing all over the U.S. Constitution.
Yesterday you were you were applauding government intervention, HYPOCRITE.
Now THIS is how it is done
OMG you dumb-ass....that thread is almost exclusively about problems being solved through charities. There was ONE story about government and it was how they were putting people to work instead of just giving them handouts.

Are you a liar or just illiterate?

The NEW DEAL created so much infrastructure during the FDR era that there is an organization that tries to document all those positive accomplishments, project by project. While some of the projects have fallen into disrepair due to lack of attention and maintenance, thousands of those projects are still being used today and benefitting Americans 80 years after the era.

It is not the federal government's job to "create infrastructure". Perhaps you should read the U.S. Constitution before commenting on politics? Just say'n...

After WWI and the great depression masses of people were disenchanted with capitalism. In Italy workers took control of the factories. Mussolini reclaimed them for the capitalists people who owned the factories.
That's a cute little communist propaganda post. But I corrected it for you. Telling the truth about history is way more interesting. Nothing was "reclaimed" for "capitalists". What Italy did was not allow a bunch of rioting thugs to steal property. Gasp! Oh the horrors of not allowing private property to be stolen. Kind of funny how liberals think. If they rape, steal, and murder like primitive vikings it's ok - because they are liberals.

Our debt began with the Revolutionary War and continued until a Democratic president, Jackson paid it off. Republicans talk about the debt but as usual, just talk.
The concept of America was more than liberty, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, were also mentioned, and even that was just a start.
Yeah - under liberty. You could pursue those things under liberty. And there was no guarantee. And certainly not provided to you by government. The Constitution is very clear (as are the words of our founders) - the federal government had 18 enumerated powers only and not one damn thing more.

No matter how hard you try to twist this - the raw deal was the ultimate screw job for the American people and it was not the result of FDR being some altruistic Mother Theresa sent from heaven. It was the result of a power hungry, money hungry Dumbocrat.

Refuse your Social Security then. All the more for us.
Refund the tens of thousands of dollars stolen from me by the federal government and I will personally burn my Social Security card on video and upload it to USMB just for you cupcake. Deal? Yeah....didn't think so NYcarbineer. Typical greedy liberal.

Ah yes, the ideological drones posting about FDR and the New Deal, still popular despite its obvious idiocy. The usual narrative about 'the war ended the Depression' is another fave piece of cognitive dissonance, claiming that an even more heavily controlled economy was 'better' than the New deal, with its severe rationing, low government mandated domestic consumption, and a very unfree market economy, and full employment at government factories. Lol lol ...

As for the ridiculous claim that the 'government caused the Depression', that's even more hilarious. Quit reading gibberish by Ann Coulter and the idiot Glenn Beck. I mean, really, grow up. The deficit is a s much a product of Republican policies and corporate welfare as anything Democrats ever did. Ideologues, whether 'left' wing' or 'right wing', are morons and idiots, and that's just a fact.

The new deal turned my grandparents from bitterly poor cotton sharecroppers into people who eventually owned their land and my parents into well paid educated people. I am presenting living history told to me by people who lived it and you are so fucking wrong you should be embarrassed.

Thankfully you are not the one who decides what is constitutional or given the task of interpreting it.

In other words - your grandparents were incapable of thriving in the free market so you support Fidel Castro Cuban-style communism? How disgusting, selfish, and greedy does one have to be to give up the liberty that other people have died for, in exchange for some farm land? Amazing that you feel good about fucking over the American people because it afforded your parents the ability to buy you a fucking PlayStation and an iPhone. Because that is what millions have sacrificed their lives for.

The fact that you even believe that someone decides or interprets the Constitution is a glaring illustration of just how profoundly ignorant you are of that document. You are an embarrassment to America and Americans. Too lazy to even read the freaking Constitution.

You're so blind to reality - you can't even grasp that Republican's are liberals. George W. Bush added $4 trillion to the national debt (fiscal irresponsibility sure as hell isn't conservative- that is liberalism). George W. Bush drastically expanded the size and scope of the federal government with stuff like Homeland Security (expanding the size and scope of the federal government sure as hell isn't conservative- that is liberalism). George W. Bush pissed on the U.S. Constitution with The Patriot Act (destroying the U.S. Constitution sure as hell isn't conservative- that is liberalism).

Jesus wept. Are you really that clueless? I am obviously somewhat older than you and I can tell you firsthand that the tyranny of a depression era landlord was far worse than anything you could possibly imagine these days. The people of the south might have seen a hundred dollars for an entire years labor and you want to preach to me about liberty? What Roosevelt did for them was a goddamned miracle.

Yeah...communism is always a "goddamned miracle" to the ignorant. To the enlightened - what FDR was a "goddamned" travesty.

Your position is so astoundingly ignorant it defies logic. Violating the highest law in the land is not acceptable under any circumstances. It is every bit as stupid as saying "since births are down world wide, it is ok to start raping women in hopes of getting them pregnant and increasing births again". Only an insane madman would make such a case. Yet that is the exact case you are attempting to make when you cry that your family wasn't doing well so it's ok that FDR not only acted like an unhinged dictator, but that he also destroyed free market.

My oldest grandparent was born in 1874. Both my parents grew up in the Depression. My father rode the rails west to get work, was in the CCC, and both my parents intensely admired FDR. There were dams built on our great rivers during the Depression that smelted the aluminum that went into the bombers that my father worked on when he was in the Army Air Force.

You Fascists can post all you want concerning FDR. We Americans know what he did for this nation.

We know too - he shredded the U.S. Constitution, acted like a dictator, violated the law in nearly every way, and made the sacrifices of so many irrelevant.

But none of that matters to those greedy liberals whose parents or grandparents benefited in some way from the nightmare.

OK Junior, settle down, you are the one getting unhinged here. Sitting here surrounded by luxuries and freedoms my grandparents could never have imagined it is hard to see any point you are trying to make. If you feel oppressed I suggest you change your situation and attitude rather than complaining about decisions made 70-80 years ago by a president leading the country through a shit storm that would have killed your pampered, basement dwelling, ass.
