i think the term Czar (Tsar) is more accurately derived from the latin, Caesar and not great khan.

I beg to differ. Moscow and the medieval Russian state had much contact, including religious, economic and cultural with the Byzantine empire. As the inherenters of the Roman tradition, Constantinople was known as the second Rome and with the fall of the Byzantines the mantel was passed onto the Russian state. Thus Moscow became the third Rome.

It’s no fluke that Russians are predominantly Orthodox Christians nor that they called their leader Caesar.
