As a bullet leaves the barrel the hot gasses also provide pressure to make the firearm push back and often your arms and hands tightening your control make it go off target in some fashion....up or to the side.

You have never fired a firearm. When you fire a powerful centerfire weapon, such as a shotgun or rifle, the exploding shell propels the shot or round down and out the barrel at a very high velocity. In physics you should have learned that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. In firearms, this is called "recoil." It kicks the weapon backwards and up, taking the barrel dramatically off the target. Two or three seconds are required to re-aim.

In the video, the shooter fired so rapidly he did not have time to accurately re-acquire his target. I qualified as a Rifle Expert in the U.S. Army with an M-14, hitting targets from 75 to 350 yards. Trump's life was spared by "inclining to the right" at the precise second the 5.56 mm round was fired.

Incidentally, the Army trained riflemen to set "battlesight zero" at 250 yards, the range where the trajectory of the fired round passed through the line of sight for the second time. The first time the two paths intersect is at 25 yards. This is due to the fact that the fired round begins dropping immediately after leaving the barrel. So your aim is down through the curved path, crossing it twice.

We aimed low a few inches at 75 yard targets, less low at 150 yard targets, dead on at 250 and high at 350 about six inches. When trying to kill the enemy, favor the low side because your bullet can ricochet off the ground and kill him, but if it goes over his shoulder, you missed.
