I doubt it. Carrey is a fool. The facts are the facts. It doesn't matter how good of a lawyer he has. The dioceses was blamed for further slandering the kid. They are getting what they deserve. People in positions of authority need to check the facts before they go shooting off their mouths.

As I have already pointed out, he doesn't need to. He's not a public figure. Proving malicious intent is only required if you are a public figure.How will he get the 1st amendment repealed?
In the case of the Guardian he is probably suing in British Court, and they don't have the amendment there.
As for over here, the 1st amendment doesn't protect you from malicious slander or libel, the hard part is proving malicious intent.

What our society has "progressed" to become is much more irreligious and immoral.
Without the elements of morality and religion to make up the difference where the Constitution can't or simply doesn't go, all kinds of excess are carried out by stupid people lacking any reasonable restraints that might chasten their harmful verbal and written impulsive expressions.
Simply put, at one time in our nation's history where religion or morality would have prevented these attacks on Nick, now the only thing that will chasten these foolish, mean spirited individuals is the threat of a lawsuit.
And the 1st Amendment is made safer because individuals will now have to practice SELF RESTRAINT AND SELF CONTROL as if they were doing so in accordance with the morals and religious principles that were once common in America.
I can hardly contain my excitement at this great turn of events!!!
