Nor are the problems simply because of renewable energy sources. Cuba is hardly leading the way there.

Where in the article you linked to does it say Cuba would be in a better position with coal or NG (carbon based) powered energy generation? What I read was the problem was due to a lack of investment in the system they have.

The irony being that system was affected by a hurricane, the severity of which is caused by the conditions created by climate change.

No, glowarm isn't causing the severity of hurricanes. We've had worse in the past. This year, noaa and the other hurricane predictors were frothing at the mouth saying this was going to be the worst hurricane season in the history of the universe.....................but then thud, didn't happen. Supposed to have 23 named storms, only had 13. Supposed to have 7 majors hit the US, only 3 hit. Below average hurricane season.
