I remember that very well. First, the Left tried to go head to head vs AM Talk Radio Conservative Media. When the Democrats couldn’t win in the market, they turned to the Government to try and marginalize Conservative media under the Fairness Doctrine of 1947. That failed.
Of course it’s much better content for your ears because it’s tax-payer funded content that is one sided for the Left and offers no alternative views. It’s almost 2025 - there is no valid justification for media companies to be getting any tax-payer funds.NPR gets the lion share of their funding privately. They do get a grant from the CPB.

The content is largely educational. Covering stories and events you wont see media in this country cover. What "alternative" views are you looking for? There would be no market for a Conservative Media if the so called main-stream media stuck to the tenets of Journalism and not be biased and agenda-driven like we’ve seen over the last 50 years. This bias and loyalty to one side over the other has deteriorated any integrity once enjoyed by the system. For example, Newsweek-Washington Post sat on the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal for as long as they could. When is the last time you saw a panel of journalists in a Presidential or Vice Presidential election debate cede a victory to a Republican candidate?

Most journalists in the industry identify as liberal and/or Democrat. ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, PBS, NPR have all had their bias exposed yet they still deny it. If a story comes out making their guy or gal look bad, they sit on it or circle the wagons to defend them.
