It’s bout time Governmwnt workers joined the real world - where you get laid off if there’s not enough work to go around and/or your employer is operating at a deficit.

I remember the depths of the 2008 recession. While I and my private industry friends were battoning down the hatches because we just lost half our retirement, and worried about layoffs, the government workers were still going to $200 a person dinners at Morton’s and buying expensive purses at Chanel without a care in the world, knowing they were guaranteed cushy pensions and no risk of layoffs.

Now it’s different. I went to a restaurant last weekend that always had a wait of at least 30 minutes, often an hour. This time, I walked right in - and it was 75% empty. I asked the waitress why it’s so empty, and she told me people are worried about their jobs.

It was always wrong for private employees, subjected to layoffs, to fund “no layoffs ever” for government employees, and I’m glad we are rightsizing the Government.
