Life begins in the grocery store.
For me lately it's been the local food bank at a combination of each.
After Corona I someone considered most prices across the board as having been doubled.
But since Corona they haven't dropped back.
I see little signs.
And get a gallon of milk for $2.85 at Walmart it's just nice.
I can buy a steak at my local Winn-Dixie for about the same.
I don't have a car so I don't care about gas prices but a lot of people do.
Anyway I want to know what people feel when they wake up in the morning are they going to get through the day what's the first gas price they noticed on their way to work ?
I know I can be off the wall and silly but sometimes this is where things are the best in commenters.

I don't pay much attention to gas prices unless it is in the news or I am already at the pump TBH. It is a drop in the bucket for what I pay every month for mine and my wife's 3 rides and our oldest two's auto insurance. By the time we add in all the other insurances, I feel like I spend the lion's share of our income keeping Jake From State Farm well supplied with coke and hookers.

Got some bad news for you. The president just announced sweeping new tariffs on pharmaceutical drugs, kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities, upholstered furniture and heavy trucks, set to go into effect on Oct. 1.

Aside from the fact this is going to raise prices AGAIN, I wonder if the morning after pill or birth control pills are pharmaceutical drugs that come from overseas? Are Republicans trying to make birth control unaffordable?

Doesn't sound like you take birth control either.

Doesn't sound like inflation is going to hurt you very much because you don't buy anything. But our economy would go bust if everyone were like you. It relies on us buying things. Especially when the rest of the world doesn't want to do business with us anymore. Gross DOMESTIC product will go up because we can't afford to buy abroad anymore. And buying American is expensive.

And this is why we don't like personal antidotes. The facts say beef prices are up despite what you are paying a the Piggly Wiggly. Even Fox News admits this:

Fox Business host Stuart Varney spoke to correspondent Kelly Saberi on Monday about the current state of American farmers and cattle ranchers.

“Beef prices are higher. I got that. How much more are we actually paying?” Varney began.

“Take a look at this for ground beef. Prices are up about 14% year over year, or I should say 13%. I believe ground, 14%; steaks, 17%. The reason why is that cattle inventory in the U.S. is at its lowest numbers in 70 years. I have Mike Martz here with me, who’s invited us to his farm here in Maple Park, Illinois, with 3,000 cattle, right? Talk to me a little bit about how we got to this point,” Saberi then asked her guest.

Tariffs haven't touched one price as of today. I challenge you to find one.

Wow that's a lot.
There are only 81 million cattle.

It's not about prices increasing. It's about the value of the dollar decreasing. Our economic system seems to be dependent on the steady erosion of the dollar's value.

The official FED target is 2% "inflation", i.e. 2% dollar devaluation. When a bunch of money is dumped into the system without producing anything of value, like stimulus checks, dollar devaluation accelerates. And here we are.

Heaven help us all.

I'm retired and so there is no commute for me and we don't travel much, so gasoline prices don't affect us. Gasoline was $3.90 / gallon this morning as I took the opportunity to use my Fry's Food fuel points for August before they expire tonight. The fuel point savings knocked the price down to $3.60 / gallon.

I believe OPEC has a far greater influence on gasoline prices than whoever is currently President.

Wages are up? Says who? You believe them?

Biden did better: The 1.7% rate of real wage gain over five months is not particularly extraordinary
  • From April through September of last year, for example, this same measure of blue-collar pay rose at a 3.2% annual rate.
  • In the last couple of years wage growth has outstripped inflation, and the pattern has continued in the first five months of the Trump administration.

Xiden didn't create one private job. Not a one. how the fk could he have ever increased wages?

From 1989 to now Democratic presidents added 50 million jobs and Republican presidents ONE million.

When you add all the jobs Trump and Bush lost during their great recessions.
