You don’t have the hospitals, the staff or the equipment to deal with the outbreak and if your state relies on sales taxes for their revenue, line Texas, those states are totally fucked fiscally because people are not going shopping. At least the Blue States have white collar workers telecommuting and working from homes, making money and paying taxes.

The only way you recover is everybody pitching in and helping one another out. Otherwise you will break apart.

I can see a cluster of North Eastern states breaking away and forming their own group with New York as it’s fiscal anchor. Another group of Western States with California as the the fiscal anchor.

The Southern Red States can cluster with Texas, and the Midwest really doesn’t have a financial hub to cluster around.
