From the Wall Street Journal:

For more than 75 years, the fondest dream of Russian strategy has been to divide Western Europe from the U.S. and break the NATO alliance. That is now a possibility as President Trump presses his campaign to capture Greenland no matter what the locals or its Denmark owner thinks.

Mr. Trump on Saturday threatened to impose a 10% tariff starting Feb. 1 on a handful of European countries that have opposed his attempt to obtain U.S. sovereignty over Greenland. The tariff would jump to 25% on June 1. Presumably this tariff would come on top of the rates Mr. Trump already negotiated in trade deals last year (10% for Britain, 15% for the European Union).

The targets are Denmark (which owns Greenland), Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Finland and the United Kingdom. All participated in a recent military exercise on the world’s largest island that was intended to reassure Washington that Europe wants to work with the U.S. to defend Greenland from Russia and China….

No one should underestimate the shock his Greenland project is producing among allies. Along with his tariffs and his tilt toward Russia against Ukraine, he is alienating Western Europe in a way that will be hard to repair. It’s true that Europe may not be in a position to resist if Mr. Trump really wants to go to war over the island. But say good-bye to NATO.

The sad irony is that China and Russia may be the biggest winners, though Mr. Trump justifies his Greenland necessity in the name of deterring both. Canada’s Prime Minister bent the knee to Xi Jinping this past week, and Britain’s PM is heading there this month. The EU and South American countries have struck a big free-trade pact...

I’ve said it many times but Xi and Putin have to love Trump. Even the WSJ now acknowledges that Trump is doing the work of our adversaries. I don’t know if the evil that Trump is undertaking can ever be undone. The reputation of the US is shot.

The reputation of the US is now just like Trump’s: Unreliable, lying, chaotic, bullying, and most of all untrustworthy.

Who the **** believes anything Trump negotiates? He makes agreements and disregard them on a whim. Just like he did with his contractors. Just like he did with his so-called trade agreements. Why deal with Trump? He lies and his word is trash.

I have no doubt Trump wants to invade Greenland, whether he does or not, will depend on whether there is a cabinet member that can get through to him, which I seriously doubt.

Forget the Pub Congress. They are just Trump’s eunuchs.

Say goodbye to the US as we knew it. We are on the way to pariah status.

We all better start learning Russian.
Yeah, no. :nono:
Look, Denmark isn't protecting their own country, let alone a territory multiple times larger. No.

Europe is in violation of their understanding with America regarding the Western Hemisphere under the Monroe Doctrine. These exercises and this TDS behavior is a direct threat to national security. Shouldn't have escalated tensions by sabre-rattling military forces there. Now you will suffer the consequences.

They say power corrupts and Trump is living proof.

Can NATO trust the US when it elects a power hungry wannabe.

for whom the bell tolls

I definetly will be drunk on that day.

Yes...but America was gone a long time ago. We are not on the way to being a pariah; we were there a long time ago. I can't tell you when the USA went to shit. But one YT commentator said America was great when it had integrity. And maybe looking for perfect integrity is too much to ask. In the case of the USA, lets say it was great when it had 'some' integrity.

This is obviously going to just be my take on this:
1. Most of Europe (not all) are hellbent on being part of the Globalist New World Order, no nation borders policies, which allow open borders and thus has had a huge influx of millions of Muslim males of combat age into their nations. Some of those nations have been complaining at the EU meetings that the EU is becoming Marxist and Islam is impacting the nations decisions.
2. As those same nations are part of the NATO alliance and many of those nations stick to the Marxist Globalist New World Order, in time they would cease to be a reliable ally to the United States. Marxist nations are not now, nor ever have been allies with the United States and its free-market capitalism and freedoms.
3. So the United States "should" reconsider its alliance with NATO and meet with those European and Eastern European (Baltic) nations who are unhappy with the direction that the EU continues on and discuss forming a different alliance. Poland, Hungary and Italy are nations that are unhappy with the direction of the EU and nations like Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania might also go along with this.

The Democrats made the US a pariah state back in 1941 using JLW's logic.
During World War II, the United States invoked its Monroe Doctrine and occupied Greenland to prevent use by Nazi Germany following the German occupation of Denmark. The US military remained in Greenland after the war, and by 1948, Denmark abandoned attempts to persuade the US to leave.
